Buy one and try it. Go 100 MPH down a road and see if a cop pulls you over.
And if it does work tell us and I am getting one then if it does work.
Edit- Also go to Maryland and try it out.

I've heard of people here getting yelled at (read on the ask the law forum) and some cops will even try to get you more if you have a fake one on.

If ya have a real one that's from someone in the family it helps. This girl I use to talk to had one since her dad was a trooper. From the stories I was told, It helped :)

dude if i'm not wrong MD laws are if ur speeding/racing ur going to jail.
with that i love jersey. we have actual shields that u put on ur window. theres 3. 1 for actually police/troopers...1 for family of police...1 for civilians who donated 100 bucks a year. the 1st two of coarse are the best and the civilian one is still good.
plus having pba cards gets ur ass out of a tight spot a lot of times to.

I think the sticker is only half of what you need to do if your pulled over. Showing the Cop 110% respect I think will take you further then a sticker ever could. If you do get a sticker do it the right way and donate to the department. Call your local Department and ask about donating. The sticker I got did say on the back though "this sticker will not get you out of a ticket in any sense" But Im sure when they see you support them and show respect it will help them take it easy on you..

if you have a real one, it will USUALLY help (obviously officer's discretion in the end).
I know a dude that got pulled over, had a REAL police sticker. The cop smelled weed and searched the car, he got caught with a bag of weed, and the cop asked "whos the police officer"..dude was like "my mother"...cop said "i'm sure she'll be proud" and locked his ass up..haha
but in most cases, most cops will let you go with a warning. Me and my cousin got pulled over way back in the day. His dad's a fire fighter and he had the thing on his license plate..they busted our balls and just let us go.

be cautious of putting those kind of stickers on your vehicle. the officer can question you about the sticker and your affiliation with that decal. if it's a bogus excuse for you having that decal or fake, he can rip that decal off or at the worse extent, charge you with "impersonating a police officer" thats why a lot of people carry abound F.O.P. supporter, or a specific twp dept supporter decal instaed.
but if you want to get out of a ticket; be respectful, don't talk over the officer and don't get caught in a lie when he asks you why he stopped you.

These are the only law enforcement stickers I'd ever consider: http://www.leap.cc/cms/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=641
Somehow, I think they'd have a negative effect.

I agree with this.. I've been pulled over probably 10 times in my 12 years of driving. Only 1 time did I receive a citation. It was for speeding and he even downgraded it and made it "failure to obey a street sign" so I didnt get points. Just be up front, because 9 times out of 10 they won't fall for your BS.
I actually think the stickers/emblems can be more negative attention at times. Like if you're speeding. Then it almost seems like you think you can do what you want, just because you have that sticker.

i got pulled over 5 times during the past 3 years. all of it was for running a red light (of course i didnt though :) ). i got out all of them by being respectful and courteus, of course all that wouldnt help even with a sticker if you ran into a dickhead cop.
Unless a family member is involved with law enforcement and gives it to you don't waste your money

^^I agree. Those stickers represent a police union, for whatever town, county, state, etc you got them for. Now, as with all unions, not every member is happy with theirs, so you run an even greater chance of an officer giving you a ticket if you are supporting the union he has issues with.
I don't know if that's the case with every one, but that's what I was told by a PA state trooper.

yea my friend had somthing like that it was a fire fighter sticker(he was volunteer) and i was in the car while he got pulled over for 1- running a stop sign and 2- tailgating and the cop asked whos it was, he said his the cop was like ok just drive more carefully ur goin to get in an accident and then he just said have a good night and let him go. but then again it can be up to the cop on letting u go or not its a 50/50 shot

from my experience cops hav let me off the hook when i give them pba cards or assiociate member cards and some cops will still give me a ticket and take my card away. so really its just up to the cop and what violation u just made.
BUT the true get out of jail card is the GOLD card. its given to direct relatives of a police officer. father, mother, sister, or brother, wife, etc... Cops can't take it away either.

a fake police sticker is kinda like fake carbon fiber...
dont be a poser or someone will call you out on it...
and in the case with the sticker, its gonna be the cop callin you out.

Stickers do NOTHING unless it's an official LEO/FOP license plate or metal plate that only LEO's/Immediate family members should have.
I have a PA Firefighter tag (since 2001, and been a F/F since 1999). It's helped me a few times. In Philly I was pulled over for "California Rolling" a stop sign in the Northeast. As I was pulled over I was watching the officer in my rear view mirror. I saw the officer pick up his mic, was about to say something to his dispatch as he looks up at my truck (at the time). He puts the mic down, turns off his lights, pulls up next to me.
Officer: Are you a firefighter?
Me: Yes, sir
Officer: Alright, well just pay attention to the signs next time brotherman. Have a great night!
Me: Thank you sir, you too!
It was very nice and I really appreciated him going easy on me. The only way to get a F/F plate though is similar to obtaining an FOP plate. It's not easy and don't do it unless you do it legally. You need to be a Firefighter or in the immediate family. The chief of the Company has to sign the PennDot paperwork and you then send it into the state as with any normal "vanity" tag. So don't try! :)

yea basiclly the best chances of getting away from a ticket is to have either...
1.) the fop card which u could have a dead body in the car and they will let u go or
2.) the actual badge which u could have that cops dead mother in the car and they will let u go...
honestly tho its true, its up to the cop...

told me i'm free to go no ticket but gave me a heads up that my tints in the rear windows will be illegal soon 2

well ya its stupid because of what asshole did every1 has to pay 4 it. but in the state the cop lives comes first. which i can understand but even with the new law...i'm still keepin all my tints on (5% all around).
and i'm not sure bout u guys with rear windows that dnt roll down. but i figure it would still be the same thing
Altima_Coupe
10-30-2008, 08:13 PM
yea. im sure the law applies to all cars whether the window rolls down or not. but my tint is staying were it is..

10-31-2008, 09:34 AM
there has been no change in tint law in NJ. it still in effect that there is to be NO tint on the front windows, unless documented by a physician with a note stating you can have them.
any % tint on the back windows is still legal.

Of course. Police must be clearly able to see the race of the vehicle's occupants, no?

You'll be fine, since you are not in the state in which laws would be applied to. I live in Rhode Island right now, but my car is registered for Delaware. RI has different laws about front plates, tint, and such, but since my car is not registered in RI, it doesn't matter.
I just have to drive 6 hours to get inspected
