1993 nissan 240sx (155,000 miles) f/s for $2200 says it runs good recent repairs and stuff. heres the link
http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/875830304.html

is there anything i should look for in particular in buying a 240?
and what are normal problems they have?

was thinking about offering $1800 and just taking this for a beat up car maybe do some nice work with it.

my plan is to get this while still keeping the car i have now as my DD and that way ill be able to save my money for the future to purchase a new car.

huh? that doesn't make sense...

I assume you'd purchase the 240 to do stuff to? If you purchase the 240 to do stuff to, you won't be saving much money for a while. If you want a new car, just start saving now.

this is true.

but things to look out for especially on 240s is RUST on frame rails strut towers hatch etc.

but for every car look for any signs of frame straightening (might still have some bends that shop couldnt fix) or frame welding (look for welds).
look for puddle marks in the driveway (signs of leaks). check the oil make sure its there and clean.
check coolant to make sure its there and its cleanliness.
trans fluid do the same
check belts etc etc.
check weather stripping for tears and damage
check floors for dampness or stains
during the test drive get on a straight way and straighten up let go of steering wheel to check alignment.
get on highway and get on it a little to check for noises smells and to test the acceleration.

after you leave go to the guys shop he gets work done and talk to the mechanic for his opinion of the car

thats just some stuff to check of course get a carfax

another rust spot...
right behind the driver/ passenegers seats on the floor
imagine where the water would collect if you left ur windows open
sometimes itll be bad enough that you can see it from under the car

look in the spare tire well for rust

it does look pretty clean body wise though

let him start the car first and watch the exhaust to see if it is blue or not...

And if you buy it, DE-RICE IT!
