Anyone know any nice roads up there? My girl and I are gonna go up for the first time and I wanted to see if there were any good scenic mountain roads.

I come from FL so we don't really have mountains down there.

im from wilkes-barre and go up to poconos pretty often. its all pretty nice out there. lots of mountain roads you can find really easy. id say 118 and 940 would be some good ones since they are small roads and lead anywhere

Sounds good, my car is mostly for track so I figured mountain roads would be fun.

Uh yeah you really heard wrong. There are a lot of cops in that area and the State Police Barracks sit on 940. you can 611 through water gap, or 191 from Bangor into Stroudsburg. Also 442 takes you from East Stroudsburg to Mount Pocono and is a nice drive.

191 from Stroudsburg to Bangor is pretty good. Also, Camelback Road in Tannersville.

I had to edit my post I meant 191, I love going over the mountain. If he were to start in Bangor he could take 191 through Stroudsburg to 442 and go all the way up to Mount Pocono. In Mount Pocono you could take 940, to 115 and down into Brodheadsville. That would be a long drive but man in the fall it will be fun.

I have two sets of directions from organized cruises in that area, ranging from ~ 80-150 miles. I can scan and email them if you're interested.

the 191 cruise comes highly recomended from the sportbike community so its probably spectacular for an auto enthusiast. Getting up into the Bushkill area the roads are nice and twisty, bunch of elevation changes and such. Currently all the leaves are turning over in that area so its full of color. If you get tired of driving you can also stop off at the falls them selves.

The cops in Water Gap are pretty strict. They'll pull you over if you do 1mph over the limit.

The mountain section is especially good...a few nice switchbacks, some long, straight uphill/downhill stiuff...that's actually my alternate route home from work during the summer and fall.

Thanks guys, the trip went really well. I didn't see any cops on any of the roads though.

Anyone have a nice drive planned out? I was along 611 today, it's a nice road to enjoy the fall foilage and how awesome it looks.
