A buddy of mine just bought a stock 05 srt-4 and is asking for help. He is looking for around 300-350whp as easily as possible with quality parts. What does he need for his DD to be reliable and quick.

i never had an issue with the trans , only think that breaks is the gear selector which can be replaced with a billet for about 100.00

honestly that made me laugh, i made 400-450HP on my srt-4 and the stock tranny was fine, well i broke the shift selector, and a week after i sold it the new owner broke the input shaft, lolz, but they're solid

If i were him i would get the stage3 setup with toys or the agp stage3 delta kit with sct flash. The agp delta you can buy immediately. The mopar stage3 with toys you will have to wait 3 months for.(and is more expensive). Go to agpturbos.com They can help. Does he have exhaust, motor mounts, bmic and a short throw shifter?

Hey Ray, as soon as he pulled up I dropped your name. Do you have any writeups/posts on your old SRT-4? I searched here but found alot of mixed posts.

Well lets just say he gotthis car for a steal and is ready to mod it. He got it for $11K and the damn thing is as clean as my Evo. Totally stock except for HID's and rims.

Does he really need a 50 to get 300-350whp? What would the stage 3 yield?

I would do a 50 trim, on my 2.0 it had excellent streetability and on a 2.3 it would feel even better, plus leave some room for improvement.
One of the guys at work has one into the high 11's, his weak point right now is the clutch.

I would go big turbo if I had my old SRT back! I am trying to get my dad to put a 50-trim onto his SRT right now.

While that is possible, the car is not too fun to drive with a turbo like that on it. Ray@TurboTek had a GT40R on his old car and the spool time was far too long to be usable.

You can only make a max of a about 300whp on the stock turbo. Just research turbos and find out which one suits you best.

AGPturbo.com sells great kits but DONT buy a BB .50 trim. If you want a .50t buy a .63 A/R journal bearing. If thats too laggy for you buy the .48 A/R. The .48 will make more than enough power and is $500 cheaper.

OK, but I really don't understand why the BB turbo is a bad choice. Are they defective from AGP? If I was building one DBB would be the first thing I looked for due to the spool up increase over the journal bearing turbo.

Parts he is set on...He is digging the AGP goodies.

AGP 50 trim kit
AGP FMIC
Walbro 255
TBE
tune

What else is he going to need and what size injectors do you recommend? 880's?

I was over 300 on my stock turbo and still had some bolt ons left to buy! Gotta know what to buy.

get a front mount
hard pipes
wastegate
stage 1 computer
3" turboback exhaust
and a simple tune
and just that alone will get you in the high 2 hp range or low 3's!

From what he tells me....He wants an uggraded 350...so the 50 trim AGP looks his R/X for consistance power. Ray he will be in concact with you. He is still askintg about links to your old SRTZ-4? PM me your email so he can talk to you directly.

The BB is a waste of money. It's $500 more dollars than a .48 and you will make the same spool as the BB but sacirfice a couple whp. Get the .48 .50t and it will make the same spool as the BB .50t and still make around 450ish around 27-28si and the .63 will make around 480ish . Do research on it, if your going for 350ish/whp the .48 50t is perfect or a big wheel stage 3.

With bolt-ons/tune/21-22psi pump gas you will make 380whp easily.

Injector size I would go with atleast 650's but 750's/walboro 255/FRL will be plenty of fuel for any street turbo set-up.

With the right mods and a good tune YES you can make 300whp on stock turbo. Does everyone achieve that? NO.

Most people make around 280-295ish on stock turbo just about maxed out no n20.

LOL E1 FTL!

If you want a fast spooling stockish turbo go with the AGP Delta series like the 44 or 48. Those little things move out.

He said 300-350hp :bigeek:. The problem with going with a big turbo if you dont do enough supporting mods or the right supporting mods he will go slower.

Bro he said 300-350whp. That means 300 at the LOWEST and he most likely wont make 300 out of the stock turbo and thats the LOWEST he wants. Sounds like he needs a slightly larger turbo than stock.

What I'm basically saying is you have to have a TON of supporting mods to make over 300whp on the stocker and not that many people generally make 300whp on the stock turbo.

Stage 3 is on backorder from Mopar for months and is thousands of dollars for minamal increase. Their are many other forms of stage 3's that are MUCH cheaper and have much better results.

The only other person I can say will have alot to say about making fast SRT4s is Tiny.

I'm pretty knowledgable when it comes to SRT's and have gone through many set-ups and have first hand experience with alot of these cars.

<---Still looking for a write-up on Rays old SRT.

Also, the small 50 trim seems like the turbo for him. He isn't the best driver in the world and needs a streetable car here in Europe. So, the closet to stock spool that will net him 3-350 seems to be between the Stage-3 and the AGP 50 trim. So lets narrow it down, what kit can be done cheaper and net a highly reliable 3-350whp and be as close to stock as possible?

I'll let him know, he might want to go further as he just got a 6 month deployment starting the first of the month. This SRT is going to be nasty when he gets back. I used to not like them (no offense at all) but now I have a chance to wrench one into something and hopefully it turns my view around.
