Swapping My tach issues

Well I finially got my 91 and up cluster to install into my 90 240sx w/ SR. I just tried swapping just the tach out from the 91 and up cluster and put in my 90 cluster. Plugged everything in and no RPM's and now my gas light is on and the needle goes completely to the top. So can anyone help me out. Did I do something wrong? I was told just to swap the tachs out and that's what I did. Any help would be appreciated.

you should have just switched out the whole cluster but il ask around and maybe figure out your problem.

why did u swaped the cluster anyway? You need to find a shop or someone who really know what they are doing and check the 91 up cluster, was the cluster came out of a known good cluster?:bigeek:

you could have just used the msd tach adapter

i knida have a similar question, im looking at picking up a 93 se with a sr20 swap, the cluster works, well everything on it but the speedo work...would it be the cluster that is broken or maybe the speed sensor not hooked up / broken? The guy says it worked a month ago and just stopped working..but thats just what he says ha..any help is appreciated, thanks
