I am very pleased with my times Tonight, I made my goal of breaking into thw 13s. Even better it was on old 205/70/14 tires. I defiantly could save alot of time by having a decent set of tires on the rear of the car. I have a 2600-2700rpm stall and couldn't get to use it. He is how the 4 runs went.
Run 1: Leaving off idle with 25psi
60' 2.197
1/8 9.061
1/4 13.959
mph 100.99
Run 2: Leaving at 1500rpm with 25psi
60' 2.212
1/8 9.189
1/4 14.16
mph 99.63
Run 3: Yeah my brother was driving lol ( Leaving at idle with 20psi )
60' 1.882
1/8 8.72
1/4 13.65
mph 99.87
Run 4: Leaving at 1500rpm with 18psi
60' 1.993
1/8 8.78
1/4 13.68
mph 100.64
Can felt good but had some wheel hop when I left at 1500rpm. Still was an awsome night. Lots of people and lots of cars out there. I think I have the mph to turn maybe some 13.4s with a good set of tires. Maybe a 75hp shot and I'll be in the high 12s for a car I drive about 1000miles a month I'm pretty happy with it.

I think I might have passed you on RT 73. Does your license plate say tims 88 or something like that? Congrats for breaking into the 13's.

Yeah man if you were in the Black LGT then I defiantly do remember seeing one at the track and also one on RT 73. How did you end up doing.

Yea that was me. I didn't do too good at the track...I couldn't get my launch down. Best time was 14.5 with a 2.4 60'. I certainly should be able to get that 60 down to 1.8x-1.9x. Once I get the 60 down, should be 13's without a problem. I can launch all day on the street and not bog, but the track was another story.

Awesome numbers tim. Now I know what my car is capable of since whenever you and I race, we're pretty much neck and neck.

Great job. Now stiffen those rear springs a bit to help with wheel hop and setup it up like Run 4 again. You can fill the gap of your springs with rubber inserts. Getting stiffer shocks would help too.
Just remember, if you get too much traction the next weakest link will rear it's ugly head.

Yeah it is about time man. Yeah Parts breaking is exactly the problem. The engine and Stage 2 (Good for like 600hp or something) are pretty much new. The next thing to go is the rear. It's only a 7.5in so they are pretty weak. There are a few guys running like mid-high 12s on them but I'm not going to push it. 1.88 is a good 60' on bad tires.
Future :
In the future I would like to get a 8.5 in outa GN (3.42s) or 442 (perfer 3.73s)
Adjustable Uppers Control Arms
Lower Control Arms
Springs/Struts
Like a 15X8 wheel with 255/60/15s Drag Radial on it. Could probably even run full slick.

good job, what kind of tires were you running?
try a little extra fuel load over the rear next time

Tires were 205/70/14s off a stock 84' Camaro. Firestone Firehawks I want to say. I also did have basically a fuel tank of gas. Filled it, drove 2 miles to track and raced.

Bad is a relative word. Seem to be pretty decent tires to me....

I mean bad compared to like a decent 255/60/15. You have to remember my car runs big tires not like 195s. A good slick and I think I could pull low 1.7s

10-19-2005, 03:18 PM
Yeah his usual tire's are ALOT bigger than that...i guess he didnt wanna destroy them though huh lmao

1.8-1.9 are not bad 60' times at all as someone stated. That's pretty "average" to what the AWD'ers do.

I liked it when you used to run 18's and I could beat you in my parents AWD jeep 6 cylinder.

How are you pleased? Your car should be in the 11's WITHOUT nitrous. Fix your damn timing and get it over here so we can fix your richness. I can garuntee you that you'll be running sub 13's and most likely sub 12's if you just fix your friggin car.
*edit*
Though, I guess the 18 to 13 jump is pleasing, but I'm telling you that you're not going as fast as you should be or making the power you should be with the amount of work your car has done. It's not tuned right. Period.

haha, wouldn't doubt the turbo-t is prolly garaged anyways...tim should spray the block till it breaks, and put a fuel injected setup in that car, like a ls1 motor from this place in bristol... http://cgi.ebay.com/00-Trans-Am-Camaro-LS1-Engine-w-Auto-Transmission-43k_W0QQitemZ8006730053QQcategoryZ33615QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem

First of all the total timing is only like 36 degrees. It's 44ish with the vacumm advance which is about that is should be. I know it's not running 100% with the timing though. I don't know of many 11 second N/A cars (daily driven). I just weight it today and it's 3600lbs so with me thats 3760lbs. To run 13.65 @ 100mph is about 300hp to the wheels or 360-370hp at the crank which isn't bad for a daily driven car. Not to metion it would be .2-.3 with suspension and tires.
If you and Doug really wana mess around with my car for FREE, then we can probably take a look at it. I still don't think I'm going to see 12s but who knows. I've never seen Dougs Nova and your still in the 17s while my dad has been doing this for 25 years and has a 730hp Small Block Ford running 8.20s. No offense to you guys at all, just saying if my dad messes up I ain't going to get yelled at as compared to you guys messing with it.
I'm not stealing parts of my mom's car and Fuel Injection I don't see being an idea since there is nothing out there for Oldsmobiles yet. Plus the cost would be crazy. Chances are I'll just hopefully get that suspension and stuff done whenever I'm not paying for school and stuff lol.

Tim how different is a olds 350 from a chevy 350??? just outta curiousity.

10-20-2005, 05:02 PM
Um pretty much none of the parts are the same. Some people will have Chevy parts custom made to fit that's about it. You could probably use my carburator, that's about it LOL.

That math is what many call "bench racing" or "rice math". It doesn't turn up with the true results.
Doug wants to see that car down where it should be. I have no doubt he'll play with it for free, AND show you a few tricks for it.
Your dad may have an 8 second racecar, but tuning a race engine and tuning a street engine are two totally different things. I'm not saying that your dad doesn't know what he's doing, I'm saying that every engine is different, so what works on one engine is probably not going to put the same out.
Also, that 240hp was made in 2nd gear, right? Then moving it to your 1:1 3rd will NOT yeild a 60whp increase. It just doesn't work like that.

Thanks Doug, I wana be there when ya guys are playing with it to see what's going on. I know you can't just add 60hp Clint but look at a few calculators. 240hp at the wheels is not moving a 3760lb mass to 101mph in 13.65.

im gonna have to agree.
also that 7.5 rear is fine with an auto. people (ahem) pull 1.6 60fts on them no problem. they do go sometimes it can be a gamble but with an auto you can get them WELL into the 11's. buy a rear end girdle and stud kit and they usually hold. in a stick car it is a different story however.

I like your new sig and yeah I have to do some reseach about what people are doing. I'd just rather do it right they first time then waste time beefing up a weak rear.
