Recesed license plate frame...

I was toying around with the idea of getting a rescesed license plate frame for my 95 ranger. My question to you, since its not in its stock location, is it considered illegal? Here is an example of what I am talking about:

As long as its still visible and unobstructed you shouldnt have any problems.
