I took a week off... this week to be exact. I've taken three days off all year, two for moving and one for being sick.

The year is almost up and I've got 17 days off... that don't transfer to next year and don't pay out.

Today is my first day "off"... guess who is calling at 10am?

What don't they get about "approved time off"?

I've logged onto the comp and answered an email and sent off another and shut it down... i'm not turning it on till tomorrow...

I hated it when my old job always called me on my day off saying "can you come in on your day off and help close the store?" My response to them was always look at the schedule and you can figure out the answer your self if i'm coming in or not. KTHXBYE.

Now that school's started, I only work half the week, but the days when I'm off i like to check my work email just to see everyone trying to contact me. Although I should respond, I just wait until i come into work to answer them.

WAAAAAHHHH is right.

i got a call from work almost everyday on my vacation. it's called having responsibilities. Don't expect to move up in the world if your going to complain about that petty ****.

yea i guess that's true. I would almost worry if they weren't calling, 'cause then u'd be most likely replaceable.

i mean trust me, i understand it's annoying, and it's "your day off" but thats why they pay you the big bucks, because you are needed. I guess thats also the difference between a job, and a career.

you're right... the people that move up over there put in about 60-80 hours a week.

I don't mind putting in extra work... i really don't. Which is why when I'm on vacation, i'm on vacation... leave me alone. The company isn't going to be filing bankruptcy b/c I wasn't in for the week.

The whole point of vacation is to relax, to get away from that environment and chill. I don't want to think about work.

I agree, I can only comment about the company i work for, and for me, it's never about the company going under because of my absence, it's trying to keep clients happy during my absence. Most clients don't care that I take a vacation. They still want their project completed. My office does a decent job of protecting me from the everyday crap. But some things they can't take care of for me. And again in my case, most of the time no matter how annoyed i am, i'm glad i dealt with it then, instead of trying to put out all the fires when i got back.

either way i feel your pain, but you're in the major leagues now. ;)

if they know you are on vacation how do they know you aren't on a cruise or went to the beach or some ****?

At my shop if you have off, you have off. I was asked to come in once on my day off and I said I wasn't even at home to get my car and they had no problem with it. I've called out 5 times this year so far and I've had a doctors note every time. I have 2 weeks vacation left and I plan to take 1 week off and save the other week for extra cash at the end of the year and I know if they ask me to come in on my day off I'd tell them to beat it.
