Formula 1...who watches?

Just curious if any of you guys watch Formula 1. What a frickin' season so far. I watched random races last year, but this year I have followed every event, both qualifying and the race.

After today's race in Monza, Hamilton's lead is down to one point over Massa, with previous year's champion Raikonnen sitting well back of the points battle. Hopefully Hamilton's/Mclaren's appeal on the Spa race in Belgium goes through as Hamilton earned that race, with the ruling being complete BS in my opinion.

And lastly...what about Vettel/Bourdais and STR Ferrari. Looks like there's a new team on the rise, nice to see Vettel taking the win, youngest driver ever to win pole and points race.

Anyways, I don't know anyone that actually watches, so thought I would see if anyone else is interested in it on here. :D

I've been watching F1 on Speed TV for years now. The coverage is great. Does anyone have Speed HD? Do the races look any better? I've been taping them with my PC's TV tuner since 2006. Even though Schumi isn't racing, last season and this season are amazing. It's good to see Toro Rosso win. If Scott Speed could have done better with Toro Rosso then we might still have an American in F1. I watch the practice session, qualifying, and the races. It would be cool if there was a bar in Philly you could watch the races with fellow F1 fans. I'm hoping the US GP comes back next year. I want travel to see one or two races next year. The next race should be great since it's the first night race in F1 histroy. I don't see how people can watch NASCAR after an F1 race.

I have to say, after last year I'm a Lewis Hamilton fanboy. The guy is amazing. Hopefully they overturn that stupid ruling from Spa, that was BS.

And Massa missed the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Hamilton/Mercedes miscue in qualifying.

Hamilton is my fav too, ever since I saw him on top gear racing the reasonably priced car in the rain and coming in 2nd place over all. that dude is amazing.

I am also a Lewis Hamilton fan too! He is a driving phenom! I just wish that they would have 1 race here on the US soil. I would travel to attend a F1 race.

I watch it religiously but I am in the middle of downloading Italy so I didn't read any posts in fear of spoilers. Nico Rosberg or Kubica are my favorites, and of course I like Hamilton as well. 100% not a Ferrari fan.

I only caught the last 17 laps yesterday as the DVR screwed up on me, so I recorded the 3:30pm showing and watched it this AM. I didn't realize that Hamilton was on a one stopper, and had he made the call for intermediates on his pit stop just a few laps earlier, he would have been in contention for a podium. Go figure, he takes a chance on inters in qualifying, and gets bitten hard. Plays conservative and stays on full wets in the race, and gets bitten.

haha i remember going into work the day str won, and one of the cooks in the kitchen who I bs about f1 and car stuff told me that. all i remember is saying who the hell is that? but i watch it when i can. im doing pretty good so far this season.

The last two races were absolutely great. I watch everylap which is rare for me with my ADD.
I'm glad for Vettel. Thier strategy definitely won that for them. No visibility issues in the front so he basically raced himself the whole time. They got a scare when Hamilton got to second, but well done.


Raikonen is dissappointing, but I'm glad for Massa seeing as though they were trying to give him the axe and he is doing so well.

I've been waking up at 7am for years now watching F1. I was a Coulthard man back in the day but Hamilton is THE man. Congrats to Vettel tho, it's good to see someone breaking that McLaren/Ferrari stranglehold.

i dont have cable i watch the races a few days afterwards over the internet. SPEED coverage is ok but ITV is way better. its the european coverage, the camera works is way better...

im a lewis hamilton fan. i love ferrari as a brand but lewis shows real skill and ive seen him come back from 10 -12 places down to finishing 1st and in formula one that takes serious driving!

im going to see an F1 race this coming summer, im going to the grand prix du canada in june!

I agree with you, I'm a huge Ferrari fan (have been for many years while Schumacher was still driving) but Hamilton is my favorite driver by far. He is so modest and down to earth it amazes me, along with the fact he is brilliant. I might be going to the Canadian Grand Prix as well, especially if I get my new camera lens I might take a trip up there. I went to the Hungarian grand prix this year, it was an amazing time.

Yeah. If it wasnt for the wrecks there wouldnt have been much of a difference between the grid and final standings. They plan on modifying the track however.

Definitely an interesting course, especially at night. Not a ton of passing, but some interesting things occurring with the SC for Piquet. Also seemed like Alonso and Renault had the right idea to get the super soft tires out of the way early.

Yeah Renault had the right idea and I do feel bad for Massa, but I'm more upset at the lack of Ferrari's technology. Well, not the lack of technology, but the failure of said technology. What a piece of crap that new system is. Its such a rookie mistake and cost them the race and possibly a drivers championship.

Raikonen... bad luck... those stupid little things around the turns were way to high... you could see the cars jumping when they hit them. What a ridiculous day for Ferrari. Hopefully everything goes well from now on.

I agree with you. Kimi shouldn't have hit the wall but still those turns sucked.

And with Ferrari and Massa, yeah I can't believe they are in the same spot they are. They threw so many races away its insane.

shame about kimi, but it looks like a slight brain fart he had, went too deep into the rumble strips and the sucker jumped. did anyone see those stupid tic tac shaped cement things near the strips? what retard decided those to be there?!

as for the pit light that ferrari uses, they went in depth as to how it works and the crew chief has an override and he gives the final werd to hit green or stay orange. all the crew hits yes yes yes when they r done their job, the fuel guy hit yes before he pulled it....it got stuck. so massa saw green (which crew chief allowed lit) and he nailed it.....not drivers fault. too bad. some bad luck for ferrari recently.

as such, my boy lewis deserves the championship and way to go alonso for gettin a W finally!

Hells yeah! Hamilton with pole for Fuji, with Kimi in 2nd and Kovalienen (sp?) 3rd. And the guy in 2nd for the World Championship? Yep, he's down in 5th behind Alonso. This really sets Hamilton up well to hopefully increase his championship lead, but in addition Mclaren really stepping it up for the Constructor's Championship.

Ouch...looks like Ron Dennis jinxed them on the grid. When asked about the race, and Mclaren sitting in 1st and 3rd on the grid, he made the statement that "this is racing and anything can happen." And apparently anything did. Kovalinen with a blown engine and Hamilton finishing out of the points thanks to Massa putting him into a spin. So no points for Mclaren in Fuji.

To make matters worse, Massa's one point for finishing 8th turned into 2 points when the decision was made to add a 25 second penalty on Bourdais for contact with Massa out of the pit lane, pushing him from 6th to 10th and moving Massa up to 7th. So now he's cut Hamilton's lead down to 5 points. And after no points from Mclaren, Ferrari now has a 7 point lead in the Constructor's Championship.

Only two races left, this should be interesting indeed.

And what about Alonso? Two in a row in the Renault. Nice way to end the season there.

Hells yeah! Looks like Hamilton increased his lead, only slightly though, from 5 to 7 points. I hate to say it, but Massa running in Brazil, his home country, would make a really good story if he won it. Lets hope that doesn't happen.

And Ferrari seems to have essentially clinched the manufacturer's championship. Mclaren really screwed that one up in Fuji. Oh well, such is life.

Massa wins the race, Hamilton wins the championship. Hamilton takes the championship in the last two corners after Glock falls from 4th to 6th while running on slicks at the end in the wet. What an amazing race! My wife looked at me as I was yelling for Hamilton right after he passed Glock. Fantastic finish to the season!

On another note, should be interesting to see Vettel next year. After that horrible start of not finishing the first lap for roughly the first 5 races, he really came on in the latter half of the year. Looking forward to next season already. :mrgreen:

it seems interesting, last lap, last turn, last race.....but....trulli also was droppin the same amount of time. lewis deserved this years championship. ferrari knows better than to be celebrating BEFORE THE END OF THE RACE, their faces were priceless. i also think the fans were a tad rude, but they were rightfully upset i guess, they home driver seemingly having the win and championship...then lost.

I hope Kimi gets his **** together, after what he said in an recent interview i was surprised he's even racing in 09. Also the "single" engine rule passed recently. It seems that Cosworth has been commissioned to make the 2010 engines for ALL the teams. Teams will still be allowed to use their current engines but will have to be detuned.
