Well guys it is time for a new toy, looking to buy a M coupe. Would like to find one in laguna seca blue. If you see an ad anywhere or know someone that has one for sale. Let me know, I do have cash in hand.

There wasn't that many made at all. they only came in that color for 2 years 2001 and 2002. I know about bimmerforums and I will eventually post it there. thanks.

Yes it is the hatch back. Very similair to the M roadster. Same motor, trans, suspension, and diff. The roadster has 10.6 times more flex in the frame than the coupe.

Excuse me? The M coupe equipped with the M straight 6 (315hp 251 ft lb of tq) IS the fastest M production car. The 2002 M coupe has a faster 0-60 than both the M3 and M5. So obviously, you have no idea what you're talking about. I researched these things in and out, as I was about to purchase one.

Of course, I am not adding in the new M5 with the V10.. due to I havent even seen one on the streets, or heard of their existance beyond the factory yet. Even still.. it's a big heavy boat.. who knows.

first of all the car you listed does not even exist. there is no such thing as an e46 M coupe. It does have a detuned version of the e46 motor, but that is not the body style designation. The M roadsters and couple have the body designation of e37/8. The 2005 m5 does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Road and track tested the M coupe with the s54 motor and pulled a 5.1.

I'll say Markley02 is reffering to the fact that M coupe is not an E46. Its based on the Z3, an E36/7.
And being the fastest, what is your definition of being the fastest? 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile?

The M coupe might be a tenth or 2 of a second quicker to 60 over the M3 but not the M5.
Over that, its well known that the aeros of the coupe and the convertible hold it back as the speeds climb.

Saying its the fastest is a stretch. Stock vs. stock, the M3, and definitly the M5, will run away from the coupe on the highway.

I didnt know the body code (shoot me).. i put e46 as it has the same motor. all apologizes on this side. I hope you find one, they are sweet machines and are faster than the M3-M5 up until the new V10 M5. (which i still havent seen)

P.S. the e46 m3 pulls 0-60 in 4.8 sec which is also faster 0-60

Lets talk track, the M coupe has the exact same time as the e46 around the ring. I dont know what the m5 time is, but with better handling, faster 0-60, and faster quarter, it shouldn't even be a contest
