anybody have any input on how strict they are on things? im scrounging up some money to go one of these days but i was wondering if they enforce the fire jacket rule for cars with aftermarket turbos
i drive a turbo civic with a 3" straight pipe so its very noticeable that its not stock

lol ive never heard that rule... are you trying to run on the strip or roadcourse or what? i think what they base everything off of is your trap speed... like the faster you go, the more safety gear u need

non OEM/aftermarket turbos will require safety gear. I think it depends on the nights you go, as to how well they will enforce that rule.

its definately a rule. ive gone to atco, maple grove, and pittsburgh raceway a lot and never even thought about it but never englishtown because ive heard it was strict with that stuff
now that i live so close, it would be stupid not to go, so i figured id ask if anybody else had any experiences with it

they will ask for it. if you run a 13.99 or lower you will need a sfi helmit too

funny you brought this up. the guy at atco who put the numbers on my car thursday asked me if i had one? i was like no! He said that cars with turbos are required to have one now. he also said that if i went to englishtown they wont let me run. he let me threw anyway. no one said anything when i went last night. he did say he doesn't understand it himself, because my car comes stock with a turbo. I don't know why he told me this because he still let me threw.
maybe they will be enforcing it more soon.

When I went to Maple Grove the only comment I was given was that next time I need to have long pants.
Most places focus on the helmet and the cage moreso than the fire suit.
most likely its because you have an external oil line. only thing i can think of

Went there not too long ago early to mid year and I have an aftermarket turbo kit on my car. They require you to wear long pants and a fire jacket. If you run under 13.99 the helmet the user above stated is what you will need also. They are trying to enforce this all the time now.

Well since you live near there and will be going often then you should get a fire jacket for your own safty anyway. You can pick one up for around $50 on line

From what I understood, fire jackets are only needed with an aftermarket turbo. If you still have stockers, you only need a helmet.

mikes93 thanks for that link.
next time i go to the strip ill just tell them its a stock turbo on my ka
i went to the grove a few months ago and they didnt mention anything about turbos or even helmets. i brought jeans and my streetbike helmet and i was good. we'll see what happens next time though. i just cant believe they would make u wear a fire suit because u swapped turbos lol whatever

my friend went to e-town with a supercharged focus...the guy said aftermarket turbod/supercharged cars that run < 13.99 need the fire jackets...he let my friend go anyway because it was his first time there and drove over an hour and a half to get a couple runs in...

That guy told me the same thing a few weeks ago. He said I could go through but if the cops come by and I'm not wearing a fire jacket Ill be the one who has to deal with it. Whatever that means haha

This rule came about from a few years ago, when a guy in a spray'd carb'd late model truck had a throttle problem off of the line, nitrous backfire, and it lit the front end of the truck on fire, he escaped with minor burns, but the thinking is that if you upgrade the turbo, you are gonna upgrade the stock fuel system as well, as with any power modders, the chance for accidents increases.
