So the car is back at the dealership for good. (well til someone else buys it at least)...there were too many early signs of problems that i just couldnt afford to deal with. not only that but for 3800 with 104,000 on it it just wasnt really worth it for something else i could buy. It started having a lot of bad signs especially in the mornings which basically means the engine is wearing. like one morning i got some smoke, not fog, smoke. and another morning when my dad drove it the trans would grind into first and second, and then yesterday i finally couldnt deal with it when i took my mom for coffee and there was this knocking/rattling sound but real loud coming from the engine bay...with brand new oil change...so idk but now i'm carless...time to start shopping again

ok excuse me, but the driver wasnt me cause i only had it for a week...my point was that american cars in general typically dont last as long as most foreign cars.

Agreed.
Get a 4 door car that has a huge aftermarket and make it faster. Insurance will be less, and it may not be really fast, but you can surprise some people with it.

As much as im gonna regret saying this. Build a LS/ Vtec civic, But leave it stock looking....Like yeah rims, exhaust and maybe lower it....But build something cheap, thats gonna last you a long time.

LS/VTEC or LS turbo, or VTEC turbo, LS/VTEC turbo...stuff like that. Honda's have awesome aftermarket, and you can get them quick easily if you don't spend all your money on bodykits and rims. 4x100 rims are easy to come by from all the wrecked civis and stuff.

LS/VTEC swap alone is freaking nasty, Hes gonna need to learn how to handle the power before giving him more than he can chew....Cause look at what happened to my friend mickey on RT 13 the other night in his buddies mustang.
you can borrow my explorer till winter :-p

True that. RIP to him.
Either way he goes with that car is pretty much win/win. Honda's are sick when done correctly.

In his other thread about the seats, he has his appointment for his liscence January 28th. No worries you dont really need a car yet, its kind of a tease. I did it with my impreza and totalled it like 2months after getting my liscence anyway.

I have a 2002 mustang GT so yes its a V8. I love it to death even though its an auto. Insurance is under my dads name and its about 1500 a year just to give you the heads up in case you go V8. It might be more though if you put it under your own name. Lots of options for modding even though I haven't taken advantage of it.

I would have kept the stang, done a 4.6PI drivetrain swap from a wrecked GT for cheap and had a V6 insurance rate for a GT :)

Some sort of VW with the 1.8T cause there are a lot of tuning places for audi/vw in the southeast pa area. Raven how is the aftermarket for saabs? I know cosmic's is fast but are there big upgrades?

i dont suggest VW's to really any one im not downing anyones ride on hear its just my friend had one and he got all his work done by billschimmel one of the best VW tuners on the east coast (and it still blew up). VW's are nice if u got the high end cash K04 upgrade come on the turbo goes from hocke puck size to sumtin still smaller then a soft ball for 4g's or more there not in my mind the most money effecient cars no where near the top.

btw i know some one selling a EG hatch with a GSR motor swapp turbo puttin down close to 280 at the wheels sellin it for 5 g's needs a tranny rebuild but still a great deal for a car that already has 20grand + into his motor

Cheap and reliable dont usually go hand in hand and I know the 1.8T is screwy for its coil pack problems and computer problems thats why i didnt get one but it is a fun engine with more aftermarket than my motor :-( If money was no option I would have said Audi with a V8

If blackv6stang wants reliability go with honda/acura or nissan cant say ive heard bad news about them? Reliability depends on how you take care of your car but these cars can take a beating

You know cosmic? Aftermarket support...hmmmmmm....not so amazing. The T7 ecu is a complete and total bitch to tune and hardware mods won't have any effect unless the ecu is tuned to use them. The older T5 though is supposed to be a lot more playful, with kits for 600 hp. Also the aeros are very underrated, several people have dynoed more torque at the wheels than they're supposed to have at the crank.
