I've been seeing these things all over lately. I saw a silver one on Huntingdon Pike in Rockledge and another in Center City with Gary Barbera stamped all over it a few weeks ago. Anyone else see them?

while taking delivery of a ford flex the carrier had 3 6cyls on the truck and the sticker was in the range of $24,000, deff a great looking 6 cyl for 20g's but i honestly wasnt expecting the 6cyl for atleast 8 more months

Nice looking cars, way under powered for their weight.

They seem to be doing about a 13.2-3 on average. which is what 99-04 N/A Cobra and Mach1's are doing, and the 03-04 Cobra is doing high 12's with less power.

And SRT has gone on record saying the manual will be running the same times as the auto just trapping another 1-2MPH higher.

What the difference in a 99 Cobra 4.6l and a 2008 Challenger 6.1? Same performance with over 2x's the cost.

Turbo s60R
08-14-2008, 04:51 PM
^ the cost of the challanger is inflated just like every cobra to date has been inflated during the first production year of a new model!! cost will deff drop by next spring and I can even go as far as saying the challanger will prob fall along the lines of the gto's price bracket due to a large displaceing motor, most buyers are becomming to fuel savy which this car is far from. your prob gonna see a flood of these cars on the used market in the next couple years and i doubt they'll be going for top dollar.

inflated? the SRT is 41.6K MSRP, the GT500 is 42.6k MSRP, I'd rather take a 500+hp car that I know can take ~800whp on the stock block and handles better

If you want to look at older cars the Mach1 was 29k MSRP, and the terminator was 36K msrp

the v6 challenger is 22k MSRP the Mustang v6 is 20k

the Mustang is still WAY better bang for buck at the MSRP level. Hell the GT is 26.4k and is only about 1/2 a sec behind a Challenger SRT8, gear swap, exhaust and tires will take care of that.

Read before spewing out non-sense!!! im saying the challanger is only inflated in price because it is the first production year of this model and the car can be marketed at a highier price due to how rare it is... Now anyone can go back and look at what the msrp price of a car was but every first year production model mustang has been marked up in the first 6 months of sale, every car maker does it because they can!! so stop being a tipickle mustang owner by trying to show you can pee further than me

and pro/super charged 6.1 liter Hemi can also handle high HP so i dont know what your argument is there

I love these cars, and I'm not a fan of Mopar at all. My uncle owns a Dodge dealership, so when I have the money next year I'll be checking one out... for a steal.

I've seen the new Challenger and IMO it leaves a lot to be desired, the thing is huge, its too heavy, and the Chrysler parts bin interior sucks, I would have figured atleast for something as the m'f'ing Challenger they would atleast make it somewhat different than a regular ol' 300c, not to mention it costs 40k.

Wrong, the MSRP is the MSRP, the dealer buys the car for whatever, usually invoice, the markup is done by the dealership itself because theres always someone who wants to be the coolest kid on the block and will pay a lot more to be the first one to have it.

I work at Springfield Ford and we were mailed our adendum from ford when it came to the gt500 and gt40's to keep the price consistent between ford dealerships but like i said this was only for the first year

Mach1
08-15-2008, 07:07 PM
..... and they weren't constant at all, people were seeing anywhere from MSRP to 25k+ mark ups, also Ford telling you how high you SHOULD go doesn't mean the MSRP changes.

Ford should enforce markups more strictly. Hell Garnet ford had new Ford GT's (GT40 hasn't been made since the 60's) and GT500's on ebay

cuz by the time you get the "modern day" suspention, engine and trans in it and have it fully restored , wired, and upolstered your looking at 40k + at the end.

what is the base prive of a fully loaded challenger anyway ?

Does it have a built bottom end from the factory? Just saying.....GT500 are putting down 700+ RWHP with just a blower swap on pump gas reliably. I was honestly thinking about getting a challenger but I'm not impressed. Heavy, low Hp car, the wheels look to skinny too ( I would change them anyway), and crappy interior. Not trying to be a "mustang" guy...just stating a fact.

Why's every domestic guy on here that give an opinion "labeled".
