CBS3 used my video in a streetracing death...

I just found out today that CBS3 used one of my youtube vids from the ikea meet back in May for one of their streetracing death segment.

CBS3 posted it July 29th, I just found out today from a friend.
I mean....its pretty awkward to see a video of yours put next to a death.

IIRC you can take some sort of legal recourse against CBS for that.

does it really matter though? i dont think he put it on youtube to make any money in the first place. cbs might give you some sort of royalty because they used it but you posted on a public website and they have a lot more firepower than you will and will more then likely just end up having to give you credit for the video. just choose your battles wisely.

if you read youtubes terms of uploading a video (the **** noone ever reads) im sure that once its uploaded to their site they can do whatever they want with it...

cbs probably only needed youtubes permission to use the video...

Whats even weirder is how they put drifting and drag racing together....
But anything thats wreckless is street racing to the ordinary people.

can't take action if it was posted on youtube i'm pretty sure (though i don't know everything! lol) however, if it was your own personal site with a copyright, then yes.

I could have sworn it was stated in youtubes policy that you can't take videos unless the creator has like, embedding enabled (thus saying here, take my vid)...but then I guess this also would be considered fair use due to the fact its for news...?

This is a really gray area...and why I do not really want to work with news.
