hit puddle, mind u i was going only 30, it was like a 10 ft long puddle, brakes locked cuz i dont got abs and i slid into the side. the wheel hit the side and now the steering is crooked. i can go in straight but i have to turn the wheel like 30 degrees to the left in order to keep going straight. what should i expect to have to get fixed once i take it in? any help is appreciated. thanx. The wheel is scratched up but its not like turned out or in or nuttin. its just that the steering is all messed up. maybe its the steering column or the power steering. its really loose between the top and where i turn it to go straight. Also really hard to keep car straight. TIA
edit: what am i looking at damage wise. just an idea so i dont go in blind when i get it assessed.

i wouldnt drive it again until you have it looked at. aside from being potentially dangrous to drive, you could have bent some of your steering/suspension components and continuing to drive on them like that could make the problem worse and more expensive to fix.

It could cost you as little as a wheel alignment to as much as a couple thousand. There is no real way to predict stuff like this. Some cars take abuse better than others and some cars are just plain costly to fix.
If you keep driving it like this then expect to buy new tires on top of all the damage.
Good luck with it.

i did the same thing....but mine was undrivable afterwards. I spend a total of thirty dollars thanks to an awesome subie community and me doing the work myself

hey man, im near west chester, pa. u near there or where u located at? im having it checked out next week. for now im not driving it until i get it checked and ill be driving it there but very cautiously. it doesn't look like the tire is turned in or nuttin or bent. it just seems like the steering it totally messed up. its like the power steering isn't working or something.

you probably just bent the tie rod. your most likely gona need a new steering rack. Other things to check out are:
strut/spring
wheel bearing
hub
spindle
Front sway bar
control arm
i think you just need alignment.

control arm, wheel bearing, alignment...been there, done that.
is your wheel rubbing your fender when its positioned straight?

I personally hit a curb in the rain last thanksgiving and i bent the lower control arm and screwed up the alignment something fierce, but i did all of the work myself with a used control arm and new sway bar bolts. Sorta hard fix with the front suspension and steering being involved and eyeing up the allignment to pull into pepboys even though they didnt do the allignment much better than my eyes did. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have help id say save your money and DIY

took it to the shop, guy saw no physical damage and said theyll send it to the alignment place to get it fixed. ill update when its finished. i think its mostly just an alignment cuz i could drive it fine, just the wheel was off and a little toe i felt.

so you hit on the left side???
looks like your rear camber is still a little fudged. those numbers should match. expect to hold accelerating left turns much better than right turns. (well, depending on the drive wheels)
what kinda car is this anyway?

did you ever align it after lowering it? because those before left side numbers look WAY off.
anyway, glad to hear that it was only allignment.
