I have really curly hair and my neck is so senitive...my neck gets so ****ed up when I shave.

I've tried everything and nothing works. I don't know that I've tried conditioner though.

A lot of people suggest a badger hair shaving brush and straight razor...bbut they are expensive as **** too.

I use Gillette "Foamy" Sensitive Skin. Works great, doesn't irritate my skin.

i don't often shave... i normally trim my entire face with the mustache trimmer of my electric shaver... I look young enough, and it only gets worse when I shave with a razor

I do that sometimes as well. Honestly I just hate shaving though. You'll see me cleanly shaven once a week tops. My Boss yells at me all the time but what can I do?

I'd rather have some scruff than my neck look like it got attacked by a beaver.

i have very sensitive skin too. I use the gillette gel sometimes, as well as Barbasol. Barbasol has soothing aloe and skin conditioner shaving creams which don't irritate my skin as much. As a businessman i shave pretty much every day, so my skin gets irritated easily. I shave at 7am and I have full face/neck of stubble by bedtime that night.

When I run out, I'm also guilty of using my fiancee's girly "silk" shaving stuff..which isn't bad either. lol

I'm going to have to try the hair conditioner trick.

I use gillette and a mach 3 turbo and shave everyday. My face is very sensitive and I have recently tried the fusion power, what a POS compared to the mach 3 turbo. It doesn't work for me, my hair is course so I only clog it up faster.

I will try conditioner but I doubt it will do anything to help the damage and bleeding, I bleed every time I shave especially from my neck. But a good aloe aftershave takes care of that. It took me forever to find a combo that works and the Mach 3 is the only solution with Gillette sensitive skin gel.

When I was in the Marines and HAD to shave every day if I didn't use an electric, I would use Gilette Gel. Now, I rock the beard and very very VERY rarely do a full shave (I think that has happened 4 times since 2004) BUT when trimming I use no cream. I just shave right after the shower.

I use the new gillette fusion, that is the best blade I have ever used. I also use the gillette soft skin gel, and it works...but its not the best. I'm really curious about this hair conditioner one.

i use to shave every other day cuz i feel dirty if i dont, now i do it every 4 days about, but the shorter it is, the easier is to shave. i hate when the razor pulls the hair.

i usually use a norelco dry shaver then hop in the shower and finish up my neck and all the spots i missed with a disposable razor.

the closest shave i ever got was with a wet norelco in the shower with nivea or gillette gel, i did a side by side comparism with a mach 3.

once a week, max. I get really scrappy around day 5-6 and it looks really unprofessional in the office i work in, but I really don't care. I hate shaving and like facial hair. I use the cheap target gel because i stole it from one of my housemates. Once school starts, I'm going with the ugliest facial hair possible, the neck beard. It's my last chance to get to have ridiculous facial hair so i'm going for it.

Gillete Fusion Phantom, and the Hydragel. Personally, I think its awesome. But when I have to remove the goatee, I gotta use my electric first to mow it down, then use the normal razor over that.

I've used conditioner many times, and I agree, it works great. Granted, I'm not shaving my face, but it works. I use the $0.97 **** when I use conditioner to shave, though. No way am I using my $7.00 John Frieda conditioner on my legs.

shave against the grain really irritates the skin, only way to get a shave closer than a electric, not worth it.

Oh no...Bad thoughts....:prayer:

But I shave every couple of days with an electric razor, unless I am gonna do some man-scaping in which case i have a Mach3 Fusion with regular old Gilette Cream. I guess I will have to try something better because i also get the neck burn. I think shaving every day would also help because you are just cutting off stubble at that point too.

I had a full beard at 14. haha. i can grow a full, thick-butt beard in like 2 weeks, complete hippy-style. I do it every couple weeks or so, but it gets so ITCHY, i have to take it off... and go back to my line-beard, aka. chin strap.

I find that the shaving goes much easier when I do it after I shower instead of before. The hair seems to be softer after it's been washed than before.

Well, I use conditioner a LOT instead of shaving cream and it works great. For me it is the closest and best shave. I got a new razor last month. It the Gillet 4 blade micro pulse (i think)...the one that uses batterys and vibrates. I though it was BS, got a good deal on it but i gotta say, its is freaking awesome. Im addicted to it...haha. Feels so good and close. Remember, I have been shaving my legs to since '95 so i got a lot of shaving experience...lol.

i use a razor too. I've nicked a couple times but nothing serious. You just gotta be careful, as with shaving anywhere. I usually trim with small clippers and then clean it up with razor..lol

Jay,

I have pretty sensitive skin too and anyone who sees me everyday can attest that if I can get away with not shaving for a few days I will. I usually use the Gillette sensitive skin gel and the classic Mach 3, but since I've run out of gel I switched exclusively to shave lotion. The one I have now is some crap from Crabtree and Evelyn, but it works great, much better than the gel. Here's my tips:

Always shower before you shave and make sure it's a hot shower. It really softens everything up and puts moisture in your skin.

Use a good lotion. It's good for your skin and you can actually see what you're doing unlike the gel/foam.

Keep your razor clean. You can reuse the blade several times, but you need to clean it out well. Kelly's dad actually has one of those things that cleans and re-sharpens the blades and it really works, so I'm thinking of getting one.

Pick up a good after shave balm and use it after you shave. It helps smooth everything out and keeps your skin hyrdated.

poisonivory

aside from hydrating the skin, a nice hot shower (or hot towel as mentioned earlier) also opens up the pores, making it easier to shave with less pulling of your facial hair. It is def a good idea. Even if you don't shower before shaving, the hot towe;/rag idea is a good idea.

Also, wait a half hour after you wake up to shave. This gives you time to get the blood flowing through your face. I read that it helps and if it was in a book, it IS true.
