Wanted to wait until I made my statement with the insurance company before I posted anything. I got in a car accident last night driving home.

Only picture I have from the scene taken by a family member. I am going to try and go today to get some more pictures of my car. As of now, it has not been looked at so they dont know if its going to be totaled or repaired.

I was heading home (to the left) and my car somehow spun around and ended up facing the other way. The police thought it got stuck on the embankment and the backend spun around.

Thankfully, I am just very sore and bruised. I was the only one in the car (whew) and no other cars were involved (whew again)

Wow, I had no idea that was you! I rounded the corner right behind the first cop in my SRT-4 and there you were all up on the bank. I was like how the heck did that happen?? I saw that the bags had deployed but that everyone was out.

Sorry to see it but glad you are ok.. Subies hold their value quite well so I doubt it is a total but you never know. If not, just look at it as a fancy way of getting those stone chips fixed..

I am glad you're ok miss liz!!!!!! :)

That first photo i took with my phone, sorry i didn't get more i was a bit upset and all pumped up on adrenaline from the whole ordeal.

Yes, the roads were wet, and they were newly repaved as well, so that needs to be looked at by DOT in my opinion. Maybe they need to put a better rain wicking system in place there.

I think the car will be fixed, not totaled, because its mostly the body panels that were affected, i am unsure about internal components or anything else though. From what i saw at the scene when the hood was up it was actually ok enough to drive away, nothing looked crunked or borked inside.

08-06-2008, 08:09 PM
Yeah hopefully it works out in your favor that it's repairable, The fender apron looks like it bit it and the main bulkhead is probly bent. I didn't realize how new the wagon was. That will probly be your saving grace!

I just know a friend who totaled his Acura TL on a pothole. Bent the LCA and moved the engine cradle. All depends on what kind of adjuster comes to take a look.

Good luck! Or you might just have to throw a "Fix my car!" meet at your house. The bill on alcohol may total out to more than blue book on your subi though lol.

08-06-2008, 08:15 PM
Damn Liz, glad your ok. As looking at the pictures, and seeing that the airbags DID DEPLOY, the insurence compay will claim the car as a "total loss". Even though the car looks like it can be repaired, and the bags did go off, its not salvageable (sp???). I tried it with my Integra when I totaled it, and they were like the car is a total loss, and there was nothing I could do to rebuild it. If it wasn't, I would still have it, and thats the of that. You will most likely get full value for your car though, because it was clean as hell and nothing wrong with it. Good luck with everything, and glad to hear your ok.

Pocket_Rocket
08-06-2008, 08:25 PM
Wow, really? How did it scene look?

I was having major panic attacks and dont really remember much of being in the car.

Yep.. It was like no cops then suddenly a bunch and then the fire engine came roaring in and blocked off the road. Thats about all I saw other than I think you or someone else went over and looked in your car for a second then when the fire engine came they walked away from it all to get out of the way. Was that you or were you in the car the whole time?

The car did not look that bad then but I really could not see the drivers side due to the angle. I figured it was bad if i was enough to set the bags off.
Had I known it was you I would have at least stopped just so you were not by yourself..

Kerplunk105
08-06-2008, 08:30 PM
I was in the car the whole time. I remember a whole bunch of strangers asking if I was okay and stuff. I got taken out of the car on a board/stretcher.

Good heaven's Liz, I'm sorry to hear. Glad you are ok though! That's always much more important.

That's not entirely true. Insurance companies will total a car when the $$$ that it takes to repair the damage to the condition it was before the accident exceeds ~75% of the car's value. Even the newest Integra's are only work ~7K, and airbags are like 2K a pop plus SAS systems and labor charges it would easily go over the totalled line.

Liz's car is worth more money, so they may still decide to repair it.

Literally right across the street from shir ami, between the bypass and the newtown jr high driveway. It has a median there too.

Although, I do agree with you. The UGM one is awesome.

Buster
08-08-2008, 12:54 PM
Yes but its new with less miles, better warranty and newer most likely stock tires. I would rather spend the extra for peice of mind than go with a cheaper one with higher miles and cheap tires again with an extended warranty that doesnt do anything for the car but tack on an extra 40 a month.

It drove like a f***ing rocket, you could barely notice that it was auto, very smooth shifting, not a lot of mush. Hugged the road like it was on rails. Really nice exhaust note too. Over all it was really nice, shame she could not get it.

Yeah, I wish I could have gotten the WRX Wagon. Price wise it just wasnt going to fly. Besides...I dont have much will power with a car like that

I ended up getting a 2004 Outback. Its the 35th anniversary edition. H6 motor. Heated seats, heated mirrors, dimming rear view mirror. Its a nice car. 37,000 miles. The only thing I hate is the color. I got it on Friday night and its already dirty

Here she is on the dealers lot.

I really like it so far  Its certified too, which is great for me b/c I got a much lower % rate for my loan, (almost half of what my last one was!!)

BTW, I just wanna say how totally awesome my insurance company is. They paid for all my hospitals bills, my rental until I found my car, were willing to help find me a car, and gave me a very far price for my car, (I still had money over and above my loan for a downpayment).
