hey everyone - everyone pretty much knows im new to supra's

i just have a question about acceleration on my stock 89 supra turbo, if anyone could help me with an answer ( greatly appreciated )

just wondering - when i pin the gas pedal to the floor ( from a dead stop or 5mph then floored ), the turbo spools up " sounds badass lol " but i max at like 30mph then it takes forever to go faster from there...

now when i lightly hit the gas ( -4 to 2lbs boost ) i have the best acceleration - but it takes a few seconds to really get moving ! - i guss my expectations for the car are different... i thought i could at least chirp the tires on a green light lol when i bought it

is this normal ? - at the moment im thinking yes, on account of the cars TANK like weight... but does anyone have a different thought or opinion ?????

i appreciate any bit of imput anyone has to offer - im hoping to have about a 300 - 330 whp car after tuning it, if anyone was wondering

thanks Danny

im thinking your expectations may be too high. I dont know much about imported cars but if its a stock 89, hows the engine doing? If you have poor acceleration and its an older car, it could possibly just be getting a bit too worn or maybe in need of a rebuild. How long have you had the car and how often to you maintenance it?

DOSE THE TRANNY SHIFTS RIGHT?

IT COULD BE A BOOST LEAK. YOUR CAR DOSN'T LOSE BOST WHEN THE TRANNY SHIFTS.

WHAT COND. IS THE TURBO IS IN? I CAN'T REALLY TELL FROM HERE. LOL. I NEVER DROVE AN AUTO SUPRA BUT I KNOW THEIR A BIT FASTER CAUSE OF CONSTANT BOOST.

1. CHECK FOR VAC LEAKS.

2. CHECK FOR VAC LEAKS

Your description is so vague it is going to be hard for anyone to give you anything definative. The car definately shouldn't be faster at part throttle then it is at wide open throttle though.

Pressurize the intake system first and make sure everything is sealed up tight.

maybe a good seafoaming would help clean up the air flow in the engine, as well as reveal vacuum leaks. Does the engine feel like it lacks power or holding back? You need a little more of a detailed description of whats going on here.

DO NOT seafoam. Its all a bunch of crap when it comes to our applications of it, i won't go into why, if you want to know why this is do some research.

In the meantime, as someone said, your description is too vague. All i can say is check for codes and do a boost leak check.

Also, understand you can't get 300-330WHP on just a tune

i dont plan on trying to get that kinda HP off tuning the stock motor - when i say tuning - i mean upgrading parts and stuff

i realy dont know how else to describe it - when i barely hit the gas, it moves faster, then when i floor it - i wil be taking it to the shop hopefully soon to have the whole car checked for any problems...

SORRY FOR THE VAGUE POST GUYS...

The only auto tranny cars I ever owned were in no way performance cars so this is just a guess. What if your tranny is shot, maybe slipping, something like that...so it can't hold the power at full throttle, but a low power application it works sort of OK.

check your tranny fluid

tranny fluid is possible but not likely. Boost leak is very possible.
