88 mr2 with no oil pressure!

my bro has a littlw project car. A 88 mr2 N/A. He starts it just fine but after about a minute he has no oil pressure. Just changed oil pump and engine had a complete rebuild approx 2000 miles ago. Anyone know where to start checking for problems...

My thoughts also? How do you know. You can always fashion up a small pressure gauge.

Its has a stock oil pressure gauge! That is ready no oil pressure or something always below 10. He had plenty of oil pressure before he changed his timing belt. Then lost it all.

before you go crazy check it with a known good mechanical gauge...

don't know your spec oil pressure but i know 7m's run high volume low pressure systems. They range from 1-4PSI at warm idle depending on idle rpm. My 100PSI electronic pressure gauge doesn't even register below 900RPM's with hot oil

Okay, so the oil pressure has benn check with a mechanical guage... And still no pressure... Also sure no pressure because i can here the engine tappin... Any other idea's?
