nice, any official plans for it? or leaving it stock?

Leaving it mostly stock. I am dropping the rear two inches, putting in a narrowed beam in the front for a drop there both so it will be more stable when making quick turns, upgrading the brakes and I am trying to find out what exactly I can do with the stock motor because right now it is scary slow. The top speed is about 65. So if I can't do much in the way of the carbs and whatnot I may pull the motor and keep it off to the side, since it is the original engine, and drop in a 1600cc dual port from a later year. Just so I can feel a little better hitting the highway for shows and and whatever daily use it will see.

Ugh I want one so bad. I was gonna trade my mk2 for one, I think I still should.

Very nice!! It has a great "patina". And I do respect your plans for it. 5.5'" steelies I see? Prepare for a sawzall when doing the beam. May I advise to use 2 sets of caster shims? Really really helps with high speed stability. A lot of people love those 1300's so if you go with another engine, it should be easy to sell. Of course, if you want 297whp, i know someone selling a 2176t. I do'nt think you like my internet persona much but props on the bug regardless.

I wish I had the link, but I came across a bug like this swapped with an STI engine.

It was pure sex.

^You've "herd" wrong. Premium unleaded works fine in stock acvw's. Some can even get away with 87. I tried in my old stock super but it would detonate in the summer under a heavy load. Mileage in a stocker is'nt so great as you have to use quite a bit of throttle to keep up with modern traffic and the intake manifold/single carb config is garbage for both performance and gas mileage(plus some other factors).

Well for the beam I am going to go new and replace the beam so I can still put it back to stock using the original bits if I ever want to. Same with the engine if I pull it I am going to hold on to it since it is original. Oh and I have nothing against you we just agree to disagree on certain things lol.

Thanks for the compliments everyone I am planning on having it out at some meets so who knows maybe you will see me.

**EDIT**
Bird it kind of creeps me out that in the time it took me to post this you changed your avatar lol
