My car makes me angry, I honestly dont know what I want to do with it. I want it to be quick....it dosent have to be fast but quicker. Its a non-vtec integra and yea its kinda slow. I keep bouncing back and fourth on what i want to do with it. Turbo? Supercharge? LS/Vtec? I honestly dont know. I was thinking about going Ls-V, I can get a GSR head for $230 with I/m and t/b, good conditon its an 01 with 55k miles. But ill want to upgrade the bottom end and honestly anyone know how hard it is to install aftermarket pistons? I sure as hell dont. I think my friends and I could do the head install. I dont know if I should just go out there and get the head, it'll wipe out my exra money and ill still have money to live off of (im in college). I just dont wanna go outta my way and pick up this head and then be ****ed over and not use it. Anyone help? Guide me in a path. Id be happy with 200-250whp, i have a 142 at the crank now :(

turbo the stock LS
pistons aren't that easy...
u need to bore/align hone, then install overbore pistons for the best seal.

Wouldnt turboing it require forged pistons anyway?

NOSSSSSSSSSSS!
You need two of these, and Harry, you need them by tonight!
Nah seriously, that will make your goal for cheap. That or get a turbo for your current motor. Don't think you need to buy internals since you can just run low boost and be ok. Check your compression and make sure your engine is running in good condition before you do anything to affect its reliability.

I vote for a mild turboing as well, I've heard the standard LS heads do well with forced induction. Don't get too big a turbo though, lag is a bitch.

That's not totally true. If there's up/down scratches, then you should bore, but if there's still only cross hatching because you took care of the car really well, then just a hone should do it with stock size pistons.

you will never get a car with thousands and thousands of miles and still see cross hatching...
55k... i would still reccomend bore/hone
turbo kits should cost 2500-5000
depends what you want..
do you want to keep A/C?

Really? Saturns must be rare then, because a lot of the 200k rebuilds still have cross hatching. Maybe it's due to all the oilburning or something.

You could grab the GT17 turbo off a Saab 9-5 in a junk yard. There good for like 230-250 hp and have very little lag. I think it uses a T25 flange, oil and water cooled, good turbo.

And the water cooling is an option. You don't need to hook it up, but if you don't, make sure you get a TT or something so your oil doesn't bake.
Is that a BB turbo or a JB turbo, btw?

I would love to have a GT style...has to be a JB though, so in case something dumb happens I can rebuild it. BB GT's can't be rebuilt. =( They also cost an arm and a leg.

Take your time with your decisions. I have been back and forth for the longest time about the idea of swapping then turbo....or just just turbo the SOHC. After about 4 months of debating and looking at dynos and prices I think I am finally going with a completely built d16y8 and a garrett GT28RS....moral of the story do everything right the first time and take your time, cause if you rush into it it will only become more problems in the future....thats what I have been told! Good luck with the mods

When I turboed my civic all the parts cost me less then 2500$. Ready made kits are cool if you dont know much about cars but they lack quality in some parts most of the time. The best way to do it would be to do some research and piece together a custom kit of all quality parts. Its really not that hard. The hardest part is engine management. The eaisest way in my opinion is a V-AFC hack. All you need is a set of injectors from a turbo DSM(and a resistor box) and a V-afc or S-afc. Then you use the AFC to trick the computer into thinking the 450cc injectors are still the stock 210cc's. It's very easy to make fine adjustments with a V-Afc. THe BEST way would be to get Hondata or uberdata and pay a professional to tune it for you. But that can be very expensive. And if you need adjustments made you have to pay someone to do it.
A turbo LS is definatly cabable of 200-250WHp even on a AFC hack. For alot more info go to Honda-Tech.com and search there. You will definatly find what you need. Good Luck.

I don't know much honda jargon, but if you want a cheap turbo, try the garrett T-25 turbos that come on stock 2g dsms. They are sold used on dsm sites for wayyyy cheap, and I've heard of hondas rocking these. They're pretty small but they hit boost very quick.

T series turbos are dirt cheap and very very easy to get parts and rebuild. They're not as fast to spool up as the GT's (mega wheel differences), but they can still hold their own. Great turbos.

My civic broke because my inline fuel pump shorted out. It had nothing to do with my engine management. I know many people that have used the hack sucsessfully. It is only good till 10psi though. Yes, they work of engine revs, but they also work of throttle paramaters. You can set different tables for different throttle percentages. Its not as good as hondata or neptune witch use manifold pressure but it still works.

Different application entirely...but I just put a GReddy e-manage in my wheels. In the short time it's been in there, I've determined that e-manage ROCKS!!!
It does A/F, ignition, can deal with boost, VTEC, etc.

not very good for hondas/acuras though
its a piggyback that alters signals to the sensors... including MAP...
fuel and timing maps are limited to 16x16....
no 2/3step, not full throttle launch etc etc
