A guy up the street from my parents house wants my truck in a serious way.

But he wants to trade me something for it...

a '95 Jimmy... :screwy:

Buddy, i didn't buy this:

http://kennethdavid.net/sites/default/files/images/IMGP1055.jpg

because i wanted to haul crap around, or drive around in a truck/suv.

I bought it to restore and have something to go to local car shows in... and to have something totally bad ass...

A GMC Jimmy is not a fair trade, regardless of somewhat equal value... If he wants to trade, it better be for something just as old...

why the hell would I want a Cyclone? classic > *

Like I said, the only trade I'd accept is either 5k cash, or something just as old and equal in value... like a '66 GTO Shell...

That's ok, some douchecanoe offered me 3K and a set of $150 pistons for my Camaro and then bitched because I wouldn't take it.

Value doesn't come into the equation really... I wanted a classic vehicle to work on, so I bought one. If I wanted a newer vehicle, I would have bought one... if I wanted a ****ty SUV... i would have bought one

lol, people are just stupid. They see something they like and they try to offer as little as possible for it...

but on a lighter note i do love the c10's.. want to build a rat rod out of one..

that was the initial plan... it already looks like one... and has the heart of one... just needs more power.

But at the end of the day, I really want a clean hot rod out of this truck. My parents are kind enough to give me the larger side of the two car garage to work on this... so next weekend it's clean up time... truck gets moved in... and I start saving up to order the brake components and a new rear end

do it!

I'm dying to get started on this project... this truck is going to be sitting in pieces in my parents garage by the end of summer... I think I'm going to be pulling everything off... the cab needs new mounts... I want to clean off the surface rust on the frame and repaint it...

So much stuff I want to do... I need new bed components too... once I get it apart I need to evaluate the rust... and decide on which parts to replace.

I want to do a Cuda or something like that. I don't have the time for it right now though, or the money, or the space lol.

I think the Cyclone example above really puts it into perspective... you love your truck and although its not monetarily more valuable than something like a Cyclone, its still more desireable in your eyes. So yeah, you like your truck. I think its pretty cool too, so hurry up and get on it already and lets see something from it by the spring :)

I hear that... all that is tight for me.

I'm very thankful my parents are giving me use of their garage for this... I don't think they know what they've done lol...

That truck is going to be littered through out that garage... and then when the tarps go up so I can paint the frame... lol... Money and time is a long term investment on something like this though... so I'm not so concerned with having it street ready in a month or two, its not my daily driver, it doesn't need to be done for any real reason... other than I want to be able to cruise around in it.

yeah, and as much as I respect the "newer" sports trucks... they're just not my style. I test drove a Lightning... and I loved it... I almost bought it... but I figured for the price of that vehicle, I could build something cooler.

lol, i would too... but I figured a fwd DD with 500+whp would be a major pain in the ass :o

besides, i'm thinking of tossing a hitch onto the truck when its done and buying a car to use as a dedicated autocrosser lol

bitten by the classic car bug, cure it before it get worse. if u shop round u can find restoreable cars for cheap, but Cudas are a diff ball game.

jimmy got a C/10 ??? screw that. ill trade you a 69 Firebird

Haha, I'm actually going to look at enclosed trailers sometime this week. I need a trailer to take the Civic to the track on slicks, and I figure if I'm going to get one I might as well as get a nice one that will last me a long ass time. That, and I want to "garage" the car this winter, so I'm going to just put it in the trailer lol.

i don't get "jimmy got a c/10"

but a 69 firebird isn't one of the few things I'd trade the truck for, sorry...

the list is fairly small, and obviously i don't expect the condition to be mint, or even near it... my truck sure as hell ain't... but the vehicles include:

'66 GTO
'69-70 Cuda
unfinished factory five cobra kit

those are really the only things I'd consider... and at this point, I doubt anyone would be wanting to trade any of those in any condition for my truck

ment for

i know for a fact that nobody will trade a cuda no matter the cond. ive seen Cudas that were just rolling shells for no less then 3k, and a 66 GTO is like trying to find a hooker w/o a pimp. but i still wouldnt trade up a step side C/10 anyway cuz of them gettin harder to find. not sure on the cobra kit though, explane a little more

and my C/10 is in oddly fantastic shape. the sheet metal is in surprisingly good shape with a little rust in the usual spots, and some patchable rust in the rear fenders.

I agree about the cuda and the gto... i doubt anyone would be willing to trade for my truck unless it was finished...

cobra kit: http://www.factoryfive.com/rdsterhome.html

I will own one... people spend 10's of thousands to build a complete one... hopefully me finishing the truck will result in the selling of it and the buying of one of those kits...

I consider this truck "practice" for when I finally bite the bullet... and have 20k to drop on the complete kit (minus engine/trans...)

a factory car is unique? :bigeek:

besides, this is all personal opinion. I'm not a fan of the styling of the "newer" mini-trucks.

pics? I'm always looking for ideas.

My truck is technically a '72 as that is where the frame came from. So, wonderfully enough, I have spring suspension instead of leafs. But the body is from a '69 and a ****ty 350 out of a '71 camaro... but the 2 speed powerglide makes cruising around interesting lol...

power glides are the best trans to ever have even for racing. sorry no pics of that , i could get a few.

I don't intend on really racing the truck to often... sure I want to take it to the track and see how it does, when its done.

I used to show my '73 mustang at car shows back in the day, and that was a lot of fun. I want something that I can do that again with... but also has power... and I'm looking for around 600hp.

More than likely the truck will end up with a fuel injected engine... TT V8 is the plan. Once the brakes and rear end are squared away I'll start doing more research on the engine/trans I want.

I'm also considering going with a turbo diesel for something completely different.
