Heres the deal. I need your help finding a nissan gtr that doesn't have a ridiculous markup. Why? Because you are a fool if you pay 20,000 over sticker like some are selling for. So if any of you guys help find me a GT-R that is selling for what the car is really worth then in exchange once broken in we'll take you for a nice little test drive..Hell you can also get a drive in the m5 if you want.

I work at a Nissan dealership... theres no way even if hell freezes over that the owner of woodbury nissan would let any of our 5 GT-R's go for sticker price that we're going to be getting... besides.. all of them are already sold for sticker +ALOT... I doubt if there are any (American) GT-R's of the first batch that are unsold... as far as i know they are all pre ordered and leaving pretty much as soon as they are delivered

I don't think the markup will go down with the following years either if nissan does what they said they would, and that is making it a limited run and a limited number a year.

Well, I can look in KS and MO to see if there are any crazy mid-westerners paying over sticker. Actually, I think I remember one of the managers onsite at this client being friends with a Nissan salesman...hmmm....

No, but I just read Import Tuner's article about it.
...on XS Engineering's all-wheel-drive Dyno, the r35 cranked out a heaving 412.1
hp at 6,527 rpm and 388.7 lb-ft torque at 4,050 rpm at the wheels. Not bad
considering it translates to a less than 15 percent loss through an all-wheel-drive
powertrain--OE claimed figures are 480 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.

that is the only article out of the plenty ive read and watched in where the testers couldnt hit AT LEAST an 11.8 in the 1/4 and 3.5 0-60 time.....one magazine test doenst mean every single one is slow...that particular one maybe...remember each engine is hand built, no 2 motors are gonna be the same....
look at the other reviews out there instead of taking one bad reviews word for it....

LOL!!! so your telling me when i buy a GT-R its a gamble whether i get an 11.8 second car or a 12.6 second car? HILARIOUS.
No, Car and Driver have been doing test since before you were born, they know what they are talking about much better than some Import Tuner. (no offence to Import Tuner). Most of the quarter mile times given were not actual tests, they were estimated figures given to the magazines by Nissan.

So you're saying is Car and Driver says 12.6 it's 12.6? But if everyone else says otherwise, they're still right?
SpEcRv9's got a point. They are all hand built, so they won't all be the same. I don't know about a .8 second difference, but not everyone is going to be the same.
It also depends on how they're calculating it. You should know that track and dyno numbers aren't the same. The one Import Tuner did was on an AWD dyno with a RWD car. Maybe if they would have actually used a 2-wheel dyno they would have gotten better numbers.

No i'm saying Car and Driver are the first to actually test the car on their track and not go by what Nissan said it is supposed to run.

okay dude you win...the GTR is slow...car and driver is the only reliable source out there out of any magazine/video review...did you read this part of the article though?
And while earlier GT-Rs we’ve tested outpaced everything here, this particular silver example was a relative woofer. It was the only car in the test—and the only GT-R we’ve tested—needing more than four seconds to hit 60 mph and more than 12 seconds to reach the quarter-mile
so how do you explain car and driver saying they've driven GTRs that would beat the z06, 911 gt2 and srt10 acr, and test accordingly to their "claimed" times...it just so happened that this particular one they got for the final test was a "dog"
drew32
07-26-2008, 01:07 PM
Well on that last part i will retract my statement, i actually didn't see that part. Its interesting though. Because a .8 second difference in two cars that are the same is horrible even if they are hand built.

The GT-R is a AWD car it needs a AWD dyno to be dyno'd. It launches in AWD and then reverts to RWD during driving.

Nissan will let you test drive it if they believe you are serious about buying one. I asked my nissan dealership and they said they would allow a test drive but only under certain circumstances. One scenario I gave them was a father and a son walk into the dealership. The father drove in with an Enzo and said he wanted to buy his son a car and his son said GT-R. He would like a test drive. The dealership said absolutely 100% yes, they would give this person a test drive.

Oh and every dealer we have talked to so far about the car and driving it before buying. They only ask for a deposit to test drive the car. Then if we do not like it we get the money back. Really no need to roll down in anything special. I know guys with houses that cost 2+ million and the most expensive auto they own is a jeep. drop that deposit and you're golden.

Each motor is hand built by ONE person. By running the vin on the gtr they can tell us who built it and everything about that motor. Does that mean two motors will be different? Nope. Each motor and car has to meet specs. Doesn't mean a bad motor can't slip past..but it really shouldn't
P.S. Find us a car :)

Every motor is HAND built in a hermetically sealed LAB. Each transmission is unique to the car its produced in. GT-Rs have tested anywhere from 470-507 brake horsepower as of now; Hence the variation in quarter mile times. Learn to read more than one magazine next time you talk.

I'm not quite sure you realize the extremity you are asking among a FORUM. No one on here is going to be able to hook you up with a car at sticker price when EVERYWHERE is selling for $100k+. On eBay, a recent one went for $112,000. It's going to take more than a ride in an M5 to convince someone to hook you up my friend.

Exactly! Limited number supply/production means higher demands/waiting list. I'm seeing this the same way when the NSX was first introduced, high dealer mark up for a sought after sports car. I still remember going into Davis Acura in Langhorne with an old filthy rich friend, they wanted 20K over sticker for one. This said friend was willing to pay 10K over sticker cash, dealer wouldn't even budge one bit. The dealer knew that they could sell the car for what they wanted. That old friend settled on a Porsche instead. Just saying that these Nissan dealerships that have the GT-R on hand may not have any room to haggle, nor just don't want to deal with it. They will sell the car as need fit to whom ever is willing to pay their marked up price.

Guess you guys didn't find the "joke" in the ride part. Me and my buisness partner are very very well connected and I thought people would get my hidden message of "scratch my back and i'll scratch yours" guess I failed there.
Ive actually had/have two members here so far working on helping me out at the moment so i'd say it was at least worth the shot :) but hey if we cannot find the car then its not that big of a deal. It was going to be used as a daily driver even in PA winters :)

So far its a shame to see the people who purchased the cars. One fellow just bought 5 of them. Each Picked up/being picked up by trailer from the dealers to put them in a warehouse and "sit" on them so he can resell for well over 100,000 in a few months.
When Joe finds his gtr you'll see this car daily driven, tracked, modified, etc. It wont go to waste

Your best bet (like mentioned above) is to start calling around the country for dealers in no mans land to see if they will sell it for msrp which is just a SUGGESTED price not what they are worth. What its worth is individual to the person buying it. They are selling for over 100k so to alot of people with the money its worth it. Also go to the dealers and make an offer in person with all finances in order ready to go. You might be surprised. Not to mention it’s for a shop/test bed for moding so you could throw in a sort a promotional aspect to it like advertising for them or having the car on display at the dealer after its built.
Also, get White :supz:
And not to beat a dead horse but anyone that thinks what a Magazine gets for test results is dead on needs to learn more about cars, how they perform and how every driver will get different results. NEVER use what a magazine says as fuel for what YOU know.

I buy and sell a lot of cars for my company and did a quick look for you on what they selling for. A couple have hit auction and are selling well over $100k on the block. Every dealer is listing the car out at least $15k over MSRP. You're dealing with one of the hottest cars on the market right now with an extremely limited supply. There are people mortgaging their houses to buy this car. I'm buying about 30 Nissan's (and have bought about 100 cars from his dealer network in the past year) and just for S&G's I asked him what he could sell me a GT-R for. He pointed to the sticker on the car and said not a penny less. So, as "hooked up" as you are doesn't really matter when you are asking for a $20k favor.
Since it's for your business you need to weigh the pros and cons of the purchase. You may be able to wait it out a little bit and pick one up at MSRP or a little more, however it will delay your parts development. Or, you can take the plunge, pay what they are asking and get your product to market faster than other people, hoping that being one of the first will give you a better return. Also, if you buy the car now and do what you need to do with it as a product mule (don't DD it however) you could probably flip the car modded or stock and break even on your purchase (maybe even make money) if you act quick.
