Well, after much research I think it's about time to sell my Jeep. I love it and have tons of fun with it but from reading different articles the tub/chassy is not strong enough to pull my GSX/trailer. I am considering getting either an old school Bronco or a Ford F150/250. Anyone else have any other good ideas?

I want $2800 OBO for it. It runs strong and is a 5spd. It has the 4.2L motor with a dual barrel carb that is tuned. It has 135,xxx original miles and everything works. I even have a 1" Body lift and torsion rubber motor mounts just no time or patience to install either as of yet. Less then a year old soft top with full soft doors and I have full metal doors (which are very $$$). The body is in fair condition and it has the usual rust in the floor pan but no humongo holes that you would fall through.
The inspection is good on it until 01/06 and if I could sell it before the winter that would be awesome. I have never had any problems with this Jeep what so ever since I installed the new stuff on it. If you can find my cardomain if tells you what I replaced and upgraded throughout.

Would you happen to know any basic info on it? Like engine size, towing capacity, auto/manual? Old school Bronco's or a turbo diesel is what I am leaning towards. Thanks for the heads up

....i'd be willing to bet that you could stand to lose a couple hundred pounds in interior amenities...sound deadening...carpets...seats...spare tire....excess wiring....go crazy
and remember...if its a "sports car" there's nothing comfortable about sports lol

I think the lightest AWD DSM is around 2700-2800 pounds completely gutted and a 1g. Considering 2g's are heavier then 1g's I would be happy to get down to 3000lbs. That weight plus an AWD trailer I am still at around 5,000lbs.

why are you towing GSX with the Jeep? it doesn't look like a race car

It's a 95 black, 140k, automatic trans. 5.8L 351 engine. It has the factory towing package on it, whatever that means I don't know, but I've seen it haul a isht load of wood. Someone might be buying it this weekend, but if not he wants around 5k for it.

What's funny is that you probably read my mod list and had no clue what it meant. I make it NOT look like a race car on purpose....kthxbai
If anyone has any friends who are selling a Bronco/Ford F150/250/350 throw it my way I am pretty open to any big rig that can tow what I need. I am looking to spend between $1,000-$2,800

be very careful when buying an older bronco, they have been well known for tranny problems.

So then what trucks are recommended since I want older? I am looking for 1985-1990 older vehicles doesn't have to be a turbo diesel but it would be nice. I think for towing 5,000+lbs a V8 should be sufficient but more is cool too.
Edit: Here are some I am interested in just anyone let me know if they are worth it or not:
1988 Ford F150 SuperCab (http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=189117565&dealer_id=55330477&car_year=1988&search_type=both&make=FORD&distance=25&model=F150PICKUP&sponsorModel=&address=18976&certified=&advanced=&max_price=2000&bkms=1128615654368&min_price=1&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=&cardist=25)
1989 Ford Bronco 4X4 (http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=186528143&dealer_id=55491712&car_year=1989&search_type=both&make=FORD&distance=25&model=BRON&sponsorModel=&address=18976&certified=&advanced=&max_price=2000&bkms=1128616911905&min_price=1&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=&cardist=23)
1992 Dodge Dakota (http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=189769306&dealer_id=56951163&car_year=1992&search_type=both&make=DODGE&distance=25&model=DAKOTA&address=18976&certified=&advanced=&max_price=2000&bkms=1128617157417&min_price=1&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=17)
1990 Dodge Dakota (V6 not sure if it would be enough to pull?) (http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=189769297&dealer_id=56951154&car_year=1990&search_type=both&make=DODGE&distance=25&model=DAKOTA&address=18976&certified=&advanced=&max_price=2000&bkms=1128617157417&min_price=1&end_year=2006&start_year=1981&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=17) - Maybe I can S/C it!
All I can find for now if anything else comes up please let me know.

Buy a Chevy. They are reliable and the ride quality is far better than any Ford or dodge product. Ford's only guarantee- our warranty doesn't cover it!
Also, dont forget Toyota! I have owned a few of them and miss them all. Find a '95 or earlier model with the 22R 4 cylinder/5 speed. If you are looking to use a truck as your daily driver, it is the only way to go. Allow some extra trip time while towing.
If you can afford something newer, Get a Dodge Sprinter van. It is the best daily driver/tow rig money can buy.

I kinda wanted a nice big muscly motor like a V8 or so. I will look into the Chevy's though thanks Mike. Any models in particular?

I would say look for a 1500 series. It will be plenty strong for towing your car, but not much more. 2500/3500 series= better control for heavy loads and more expensive registration/inspection fees.
If it is your daily driver, get a diesel 4x4. It is worth the extra $$$. If it is just for towing only, get any v8 and you will do just fine.
Jim Accardi has a couple of trucks. He is the guy that shows up at the meets usually in a cyclone or typhoon. He has a GMC 2500 with a 454. It will pull anything that can be attached to it. I think he is selling it...

Thanks for the heads up Mike. Unforunately I am only looking to spend between $1,000-$2,500 not much more. I will definately look into the 1500 Chevy series though.

Thanks for all the info so far guys but it seems that I found an awesome deal trading a guy my Jeep for his Blazer K5. Hopefully it goes through I will possibly make another thread when the guy stops down to update. I am glad a lot of you know what I am talking about b/c I am not too sure about K5's reliability wise and will possibly need some help.
