They are 100% legal in Canada. Most people get them from there. They cost about 10k up there for a good one.

If it was legal to bring them into the us, they would be directly imported into the US. Most likely the car is illegally here.
hows he register, insure, drive them??
He probably doesn't, probably doesn't, and illegally.

What a lot of people don't realize is that Japan is more strict with emissions than we are in the US. Emissions is not the issue with importing cars, it's the safety standards. In order to properly import a car (that does not have a US version), you need to modify the bumpers on them and then do several crash tests on them. I personally do not think it's worth bringing 5 skylines in to wreck 4 of them.
You may have heard of Motorex, they used to import Skylines. They were the only legal importer of the Skyline, until Nanahoshi Hiroaki (the owner of Motorex) decided to steal Skylines from Japan and import them into the US. Needless to say, when this all went down, Hiroaki was locked up and his importing privileges have been rescinded.

I just got back from Canada 2 weeks ago, R32 Skylines and Silvias are soo common up there now. Anything 15 years or older is legit to import. It's cheaper to buy one of these cars than build one now. A decent R32 can be had for under 5K. Silvias are even cheaper.

no its 100% percent legal, maybe its just you but it clearly has a delaware t tag on the car, he got it for 12.5k.. he had to get a cat and wire the side lens so they are on at all times. he bought the car as you see it, it has 400whp. and so on.. he can import anything, not just skylines, rx7 silvias 300zs anything of that nature. if you want to get ahold of him goto

It's just another early 90's japanese sportscar. The same class as RX-7, 300ZX, VR-4, etc ... the Skyline is the Mustang of Japan. But for some reason it's always more desirable if you can't have it ...

Importing Japanese Cars or importing cars into the USA from any country requires that they meet safety standards as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 as revised in 1988 in the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act; to air pollution control standards as outline in the Clean Air Act of 1968 and amended in 1977 and again in 1990; and to the bumper standards of the 1972 Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act that were effective in 1978. If the vehicle does not meet United States standards, it must be either exported, brought into compliance or destroyed.
Form HS-7 must be filed by motor vehicle importers when the vehicle is imported to declare if the vehicle is in compliance with requirements of the DOT. Generally, if a motor vehicle is less than 25 years old and it is being imported permanently to the USA, it must comply with all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Bumper standards apply to motor vehicles manufactured after September 1, 1978 and theft-prevention standards apply to vehicles manufactured in the 1987 and later model years. Driver side door certification labels by the original manufacture must be affixed to motor vehicles made to meet these standards.

For a FEDERALIZED, titled, registered, and prevously insured GTR. You are spending 20k or more. A skyline is NOT legal unless it is federalized. Meaning it was given a 17 digit VIN code.
So...you are right.

To all the haters........ it is real It is legit, and it does have registration and it is insured. We got the car, shipped it over paid 12.5k for it had to do a few things to get it to pass emmisions IE cat and for safety we have to re wire the parking lights. It has a canadian title, We are in the process of getting a Delaware title for it. It. There were no problems with safety issues with the car to pass inspection. And Please don't ask how i know just belive me i know
