Ok so here is my story, usually when i first start up my car and rev to bout 4,000 rpm a raspy sound is heard from my exhaust(evo2) but after about 5 minutes of driving the raspy sound is gone. Now is this a serious problem, seeing that it goes away after 5 mins of driving?

it could just be your engine having to warm up. if not it could be sumtin to do with your cat if u have one

When you say 5 min of driving, do you mean from a dead cold engine? If so, I'm guessing it just needs warm up. Lots of people don't give their cars enough time to warm up. Remote starters are awesome for just that reason. Start car while you're pooring that coffee for the road, or gathering your crap for work or school, and by the time you get outside, it's all warmed up.

first- don't rev your car when its cold...

are you sure it isn't a rattle?

Definitely do NOT rev your car when it's a cold start. That's a good way to spin some bearings if the oil hasn't reached them yet.

its the cat and resonator and pipe heating up. my car sounds like it has no aftermarket exhaust until about 5mins after driving.

It might be a loose bolt. As the metal heats up and expands, it may be tightening it enough to stop the rattling. Check to make sure everything is tight while your car is cold.

Could be an exhaust leak. As the pipes heat up the leak goes away cause the metal expands.

I bet it only gets worse.

Not a big deal though. Might just need a new gasket.
