I've had an idea in my head for a while now and its about time I do something with it. The problem I have have is it involves setting up a web site where customer orders can be placed, processed and paid for all online, all of which I know nothing about. Zero.
I would prefer working with a local company or individual with a good reputation and lots of experience in this particular line of work. What I have in mind may not be practicul or possible, but I need to find out for sure.
So if anyone has a recomendations as to anyone that could help me out (for a fee, obviously), then I'm listening.
Thanks, Mike

bluebulletrl has been working on tst and has pretty much done everything you see in front of you, including the home page, store, etc. you should get in touch with him to talk about this. his dedication is more than i could have ever hoped for so i would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for web design.

It's actually becoming a fairly popular trend, and isn't all that hard to set up.
There are currently companies out there like Campusfood (http://www.campusfood.com) and YNot Advertising that offer those exact services to many restaurants local to various college campuses. My step cousin actually just helped launch one of the many YNot Advertising sites at his school in Texas, http://www.atxmenus.com.
They're basically set up so that the user loads the website, and is able to view a menu for the restaurant. Usually this can include daily specials or anything else the restaurant owner wants to advertise. The user then adds items to his order one at a time, supplying any additional comments/instructions if he wants. When he is done, he clicks checkout, and is taken to a window where he can choose his method of payment. On campusfood, users are required to login, after which they already have a default profile where a delivery address might be saved or credit card info might be stored for payment. At any rate, when the process is completed, the user receives a summary email and the order is faxed to the restaurant.
I'll look further into what services these companies actually use to host the info and the payment process.

It seems that the YNot sites use CityWaiter (http://www.citywaiter.com/) for their online ordering. I looked through the site, and they seem to offer everything you're looking for. They offer a Starter site for $395 setup fee, turnaround time of 1 week. There is also an option for a Branded site, which is basically a fully customized look and feel site for your restaurant, for more...($2500-$5000). With both options, there is a monthly fee of $59 for their services. If you choose the Starter site, all they need is your logo, general info, and menu, and you'll have your online business in a week. :)

Have you written a business plan? You really should start in that direction. If you have a solid business plan then you can go out to the vendors and have them view exactly what you are looking for. Let me know if you want some help with that.
