WTF? Is that like a newer maxima motor? What car is that from? never seen it before.

Maxima's are FWD.

2000 maxima (VQ30) but it has a 350z tranny to get the power to the rear tires:)

wow that motor fits like a charm. i love how the whole thing sits behind the rack.
i dont quite understand how the front of the engine is setup though. is there a big metal cover over all of the accesory belts?? i see the alternator there and the timing covers, but not sure whats goin on.
but yea man that cars awesome. get the good chassis with a real motor :D screw pointless rotaries that get 10 mpg and make 150 hp im curious how much u got it for and if it needed any work

Looks interesting, I don't think I've ever seen that kind of swap. Does it still have the stock open diff?
Frosti108: Do you even make 150 to the wheels in all of your cars combined?

great swap. its funny, i've had the idea that the VQ engines would make a great swap in a lot of chassiseseseses.... I am frankly surprised we don't see more of these swaps into 240s and mkiii supras, etc... I bet it would probably work similarly in a porsche 928...
so now we just need to find another FC with either a 13b or LS1 and see who takes it from a dig. :)

The way the rad is mounted could be better.
I just noticed the cruise control is hooked up. Does it work?

yeah there is plenty of room left in that engine bay for a blower:wink:
there is no metal cover over the belts. everything is sitting pretty low in there.
i got it for $4400 and i havnt done anything to it since i bought it, beside buffing the paint. it runs great and has no issues. the interior is in great shape as well.

yeah it has open diff which sucks ass. would make a great drift car otherwise. In the rain it handles beautiful when it is sideways.

i just got it last week so the guy you met was probably the owner of turboforum.

zip ties FTW!!! Hahaha. maybe i will make up some brackets for it. Yes the cruise control is hooked up, but i havnt figured out how to use it yet lol.

Nice find, I'm guessing he used the grannies kit for the conversion.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
i have always wondered more people don't swap in the VQ into other cars, i would personally love to see a FC/FD, 240SX, older Supra or something swapped with a VQ35DE + twin turbos............
any plans to add a S/C to it? they make kits.

not sure what the grannies kit is, but im pretty sure he fabricated most of the stuff himself
I have a TT plenum and injectors if your interested. I also have another turbo if you'd like to have two hanging there.

i was really leaning towards a sc and not a turbo, but i may be interested in the injectors.
