Anyway, I tried my hand at painting and painted my bumper and my wheels (yes my wheels are now colormatched). It didn't come out bad, but I kept having trouble with the base coat lifting. And after trying several different things, I think it was the humidity and I dont have a controlled environment to shoot in. Weather has really sucked here lately for painting. There are a few unnoticeable spots of lift on the wheels and on the bumper, and there is one good spot on the bumper that you can see. But oh well, I cleared it and I will just respray it in the fall, I have paint left over plus its not a show car.

Also got a euro front rubstrip and some Bridgestone Potenzas which are the grippiest tires I have ever had. They are really bulky looking, no stretch here and I dunno how long they will last at 140 treadwear rating.

I have a few other things I want to get, mainly just to touch stuff up. But other than that, the car is done (its basically been done for the past year or so). So no, I am not going to lower it more, I am very happy with how the car sits now, and I know its not following some current vortex trends but oh well, this is my style. Plus the car isn't the most important thing to me right now and I have other things in my life that I like spending money on. =)

Pics aren't that great, but I am using an old 2mp camera, what do you expect (I gotta get off my butt and get a Nikon D50 off ebay). Plus the car is way dirty. I havent washed it since March or so.

I am running 8mm in the front and 15mm out back. My wheels are 17x7.5 et32. Your wheels (assuming they are the stock Monte Carlos) are 17x7 et38, so you want a 20mm out back and 10mm is popular up front but really you could run a 12mm up front

Silver is an amazing color when it comes to that. Plus the rain water hides the dirt.

Thanks guys

your car looks good. I like it, but i think running anything larger then a 15mm isnt really safe is it?

I never heard of spacers ever being unsafe. As long as you put them on properly, you shouldnt have a problem. And buy good spacers too, I have H&Rs which are an Aluminium Magnesium alloy.

Looks damn good, wanna paint my roof :)

Running spacers is pretty safe, in the case of vws you just need to get longer lug bolts. The spacers of that size usually are hub centric on vws anyways.

did you "joey mod" the headlights?

Why don't you lower the thing soon?

Just ensure you get longer studs, and that your spacers are hub centric/bore centric...

The lights are aftermarket ecode headlights

For a DIY paint job on the bumper it came out great. Do you have the proper equipment or did you rattle can it?

I like the Jetta except for the black strips. But hey its your car do whatever works for you.

^What! Those strips make the car. They split up the body line.

No they dont mesh well at all. I love the Jetta GLI's? idk the ones that come with the kit and rims now that is a sick Jetta.

Yea but the whole point of the rub strips is that they are Euro and you dont see them here. People buy the GLI and dont touch it because they think their car is "Unique".

I started making my car a GLI and got the front lip, rear lip and tails. But I quickly realized how common that is and shaved the sidevents on the front valence and made a duel tip cutout on the rear valence.

I love the black rubstrips because it breaks up the silver, there was way too much silver on the car and I get comments on how it looks like an e46. More people love the rubstrips than hate them, and thats not just VW people
