UPDATE w/ bad news!!!: WTB Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)

Looking for a used GT4 disc (only) for PS2. My disc apparently doesn't work anymore despite how much I clean it....game doesn't load up.

haven't played in probably 6 months... getting desparate!

Save me a trip to GameStop!!!

good point. thats what i bought it for, i thought that was just a special sale... (now i'm thinking its cheap because perhaps the disc is prone to busting)

either way, i'd rather pay LESS than 20... but looks like thats not happening.

its probly your ps2, not your disc. just take it all apart and spray with compressed air, also maybe adjust the little spinner thing inside. theres guides online somewhere. it makes your ps2 like brand new

Frosti- its not the PS2, every other disc works perfectly fine. Pretty sure its the GT4 disc because it progressively got harder and harder to load up, then eventually, stopped loading up. I used to leave the system/game on for DAYS on end too....so that might have some effect.

WOW. I got GT3 A-spec back from my friend I had lent it to, I was desparate... NO COMPARISON. that game sucks. Its like getting a tugger from your really ugly sister.

Haha my gt4 is the same way. I have to reset the ps2 like 20x to get it to work. It has been left on for a week+ sometimes so maybe thats the issue. Glad I got a ps3. I also did the same with gt3 one day, it was weird w/ the old menu setup and looked terrible.

ZOMG!!!! That is EXACTLY what happened to me.

when u first start it up, it doesn't load, and the disc keeps making a "skipping" noise??? Then after like 20 resets it will just load up, right??

Well, that happened for a while, and then it just completely stopped loading up...i mean, i'd reset like 100x... and nothing. I cleaned the disc, blew out the PS2 with Dustoff, everything u can think of.

It must be a defect with the discs on a certain serial number range... when that game 1st came out, it was over $50... then after like a month, i see it on "sale" at circuit city for $20... i thought it was shady at first. That game new is EASILY worth $40+, and I would pay that for it. but not now.... hence why i'd like to get it as cheap as poss.

So i bought a NEW GT4 game from BB last nite, put it in to the PS2 and turn on.... game does the same thing the last disc did, does not load up!!!!! Just appears to be spinning and skipping, no matter how many times I reset.

Its most likely a defective disc, which would explain the cheap $20 price only months after the game was originally released. I'm going to try to get a refund from BB, and if not, will write a letter to sony/PS2 corporate. that is BS. its a BRAND NEW GAME. my PS2 works fine, NO problems with ANY other game....even old butt PS1 games...

so its not likely that its my console. the fact that NORS has almost the exact same issue just confirms defect in my eyes.

How do you re-align the laser? I've had my entire thing apart and cleaned the eye but it still does some funky **** sometimes.

there are set screws on the bottom... one is for dvd and one is for games... i forget which is which... but they can be adjusted.

wow why dont you just buy a used ps2 they are cheap now rather then try and get laser adjusment advice FROM CHAOS of alll people

then why would EVERY other game (even OLD OLD ones) still work perfectly fine. I'm playing GT3 A-spec right now and NO issues at all. That game is old as fart. And I play Justice league Superheroes (BEST game ever played) all the time w/ no issues. And NHL 2001 for PS1, no issues.

simply put, if it was the console, why would only one game not load? that doesn't make sense to me.
