Hey everybody,

Somebody over on NASIOC (Suby forum) found me and said I should come check this out...so I did :)

Anyway, I have my 2004 Suby WRX with some light mods. I'm really trying to get a full audio system built for my trunk though and there is noone around here that I know of that does real quality professional grade work...I'm willing to drive a bit for a good price and some great work. Let me know if you guys know anyone. Thanks.

Ben (I can be found on most Suby forums under the same screen name)

just curious...why do you want to sacrifice your entire trunk for a system. Just get (1) 10 or 12" sub and an amp and call it a day. Any more than one subwoofer is a waste imo....any more and your car becomes and over weight rattle can.

What exactly do you need done? I installed my entire system, including building the box and amp rack. I have a 12" Kicker solobaric L7, a 900w rockford single channel, and a 450w rockford 4 channel. And a 7" flip up DVD head unit.

You need help actually building the custom enclosures, or help installing everything? Installation is easy, building an enclosure can be time consuming. Im not a pro by any means, but Ive done my fair share of stereo installs. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you think i can help at all.

I say go with a pair of 12" kicker L7's (750rms a piece) and nice kicker amp zx1500.1(1500rms). And welcome to TST.

kickers do get loud but I think I'm going with Fi Audio and that'll do the trick...plus I already have two alpine amps (the pdx's) and my sub amp is 1000rms @ 2/4 ohms so that Fi will match perfectly. But thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

What exactly are you located in terms of Eastern, PA? There's a shop called Autograph that I take all my car needs to interms of electronics and also to buy some performance parts from. He's done some awesome work with trunk setups. At the moment he's doing an Evo with a trunk enclosure. Btw he's also a TST Vendor if that helps..

how could an amp put out the same power at 2ohm and 4ohm??? that doesn't sound right..... So you have all the gear (or know what you want), so what are you looking for? Someone to fab an enclosure for you or fiberglass the trunk?

Imo, one [nice quality] 12" > one 15". i never liked how 15s can sound really boomy and def aren't as crisp/sharp/punchy as a 12 or 10. 2- 12" L7s would be MASSIVe overkill in a DD. 420sx is running ONE 12"...and I assume he is satisfied. :) Unless you're competing or trying to win a show, you don't need any more than 1-12" or 2-10"s.

I decided on 2 10"s and have never regretted it....except that I have NO trunk space now. :)

If you look it up, it's new technology that both Alpine and JL (the two best known for it so far) have utilized allowing you to get the same amount of power out of a range of impedance. Yes it does sound weird but look it up, it's legit. And I am considering doing 1 12" instead for lack of room because I need a false floor for the amps so the sub will have to sit above it. O man, so much to do.

I'v had an array of subwoofers... from 2 12's to 2 10's to 1 12"... I like having 1 12" the best. A quality 12" hits PLENTY loud, sounds good, and still leaves me with space to put my crap in the back. :mrgreen

Haha well actually this setup is going to take the whole trunk basically it would just be really hard to fit that 15 w/ the false floor so the 12 will make things fit and look better. But yeah, it'll still pound. If I'm getting a 12 though, I'd go with the Fi Q. It has better sound quality and can still take my 1000 watt alpine.
