Its clearly a common issue, I dont know if honda has issued a recall yet, but your best move is to go to the dealer and tell them, if nothing, call honda corporate. Its under warranty, they should fix it, if not get a lawyer, its not like you have no evidence to stand on, if there isnt a recall, honda simply isnt taking care of their customers.

almost every k-series transmission has problems with the 3rd gear synchro. most of the time where it pops out of gear is when the shifter is not fully engaged into 3rd gear.
how to fix the problem...
shift slower, and try to feel it engage (should feel like it clicks twice)
if it wont go into gear, put it into neutral and double-clutch

it definitely is, im a big honda fan and it grew on me since the first time i saw it. Plus i was looking for a sedan so that was perfect but knowing honda's past transmission records I didn't want to deal with it already out from factory. The recall has the techs replace a few parts inside the transmission so i would of had to put alot of trust in my dealer.

well much like everything there are good eggs and the bad, however when they need to do a recall i would be weary. better transmission fluid could be a bandaid also, much like ppl saying synchromesh FM fixed their grinds.

I read in SCC a few months back that people were talking about a class action lawsuit for just this problem. Apparently Honda hasn't been owning up to this trans issue.

i dunno why but it seems they just can't get the 3rd gear right in any of their past transmission. the recall if i remember correctly is regarding the 3rd gear too.

its not a recall its just a tsb just so a dealer can give diagnosis easier. not all dealers will do the 3rd gear synchro replacement. theres a list of dealers and techs on 8th civic that wont give u a hard time about it.
heres the info on the tsb which is on every page of 8thcivic

yeah its a common problem with our cars... my car has 3rd gear pop out almost everytime i start it up and start driving when its cold... but when i let my car warm up for a few minutes i dont get it.
second gear grind happens sometimes nothing you can really do bout that, notorious problem once again with our tranny

That's bull****, there is a service bulliten out, if you have the problem the dealership is required to fix it. I beleive Scott Honda in West Chester has done a few, they did my friend's 07 coupe no questions asked.

service bulletins are not the same as recalls. the problem has to be mimic with a service tech present and can be denied service.

are you saying that its hard to get into 1st gear when you're rolling? of course it is, thats so you dont fcuk up and downshift into 1st gear going 40mph. grinding once wont really cause any problems, as long as you dont do it constantly

idk. ive been told so many times not to change the tranny fluid unless it really needs to be. but i got to change the oil sometime soon. already have 3500 miles on it.
