One of my pipe dreams is getting an s13 to run in SCCA and hillclimbs and such so I sometimes browse classifieds for pre-built ones since you can generally get a nice totally built turnkey racecar for a four figure amount. But don't you think $50,000 is a lot for an 18 year old s13? I mean granted it has a lot of work done to it, but you never get that money back. At the most I can see it going for $20,000

It's not even that special. It still weighs almost as much as a stock s13 first of all...
No where near worth 50 grand.

I don't care if the car has been to the moon, its not worth that much.
I know someone that had a 00 Golf, like $50,000 into it (widebody, VRT, etc), it saw every major tuning mag basically and he still had trouble getting like 20k for it.

its not worth that much to you. But it may be to someone else. You can't knock a guy for trying to get what they think the car is worth.
I've got some guy in my parents neighborhood eying up my truck. I told them the next time he asks about it the price is 5k firm.
Is the truck worth that? No... it isn't. But if he wants it, then that is what he'll pay.

and I doubt you have the disposable income to even consider a 50k car... you guys aren't his target audience for this sale. So rich guy will look at it... figure 50k isn't a bad deal for a dedicated race car that has been professionally built and gone over with a microscope.
And if the right person buys this car... they take it to the track, run some tournaments and bring home some money

I can see some cars that have a lot of work done going for more than they are really worth. Basically go for half the amount of what was put into it, and you still have to find the right buyer. But for someone to buy this car they must be rich, stupid and on PCP

And there are plenty of race cars for $50,000 that I think a rich guy would go after before this. I can't find my new Autoweeks but there are always a ton of "good deals" on race cars i the back. I'm looking at an autoweek from 2002, and you could have got a 2001 Panoz GTS SCCA GT-1 car with spares for $47,000.....

That car wouldn't even cost 50 to build. It doenst even have any rediculous parts or super bling aggresive wheels, its still a stock bodied car

I was actually going to say that. I think I could build it for under $50,000.

This is the 240sx that was built for the Speed Channel’s Sports Car Revolution in the 2005 season. No expense was spared in building this SCCA Spec Drift Car, and a list of mods can be found below. Believe it or not, to the viewers out there who have purchased the Shift 180 video, this is the same 240sx. It was built by on Sports Car Revolution, and I used every resource I could to modify it as much as possible. And for you die hard fans out there, be prepared for Shift 180 Part II, set to be released in the fall of 2006, which… I’m sure you guessed it… shows the build up of the 240sx from where it was left off into this monstrosity. The DVD will be nearly 4 hours long, and outline everything I did to build this car up. Pre sales start in September 2006, so please email me to order yours!
This car was for sale in 2006, back when the economy was still booming and Tokyo drift was still fairly new.

That car is worth 15-20k TOPS. It's not even a high end race car.
No data aquisition
**** suspension
Stock trans
For 50k you could get a decked out porche club car.

There is no way there is even more than $15k worth of parts on that car, that's ridiculous. I wouldn't give more than 11k for it, but even so, **** is ugly as hell so I would never even consider it to begin with.
I like this part.
# Races: 4 races
# Rebuilt after every 5 races
And for what it's worth, I have never seen that car on tv before.

Haha, I'm just saying it probably explains the price. It's back when people would have paid anything to buy a drift car. There's no way anyone will pay that price today.

$50K for that:bigeek: You can buy a highly modded & dedicated track Evo/STi for $50K or less. I couldn't see spending that kind of money on that old ass rust bucket and still get passed on the track.

Even its a few years old, 50k still makes no sense. its not like it was not possible to build a drift car until recently

Uhhh, you sure about that? Pretty sure hatches are closer to 2700 lbs, so shedding 550+ pounds on an already somewhat light car isn't too shabby.
But yeah. That's a 10-12k car at most really. It's just an SR, and not putting out all that much HP (although 360 is a good amount for an SR). For 50K I want some crazy 2JZ putting out 800 or something.

I'm not saying the car is worth the price, I'm saying that 2 years ago someone would have probably bought it for something around that price. 50K is asking, they were probably offered something lower for it.
And another thing you guys have to understand. This is a dedicated drift car. If you think any normal person is going to handle a 500rwhp+ car on a drift circuit you are insane. 360rwhp is fairly moderate power for what it is designed to do, I really wouldn't expect anything more than that.

I could have 5 reliable 300 whp turbo MR2s for that much. pretty cool though.
