Techedge. They have DIY kits so you can build it yourself and sometimes end up cheaper.

i forgot about those...
i don't know too much about wideband kits, but i do remember half use cheaper bosch wideband o2's while the rest use more expensive o2 sensors

second i'm looking for something compact- my car interior already looks like a cackpit :(

I have a friend that runs the 2A0 (the really really basic one) and he can use just about ALL the software that they supply. There's TONS of different models for the Techedge.

Plus, I think the Techedge can use both the $38 Bosch 7057 and the $160 NGK L1H1 sensors. The NGK is supposedly more accurate, however, the Bosch is still pretty much dead on. It's all preference, really.

www.wbo2.com Check out the Techedge models you can get and see which one works for you. I got the 2B0 kit.

Yeah. Just make sure you convert it so you don't get awed by the prices.

AEM is probably your best option for the money. It is turn-key, and sits in a nice gage package.

The TXS tuner is also a good option as it also includes a knock sensor/lights/and logging capability for a little more $$.

The aem guage type is still 330, but offers no logging.

I have a couple of options
Zeitronix - JUNK! Stay far far away
Innovative
PLX - Good! offers wireless logging capabilities
AEM - Meh bastards (JEGS) still have not sent me my $250 gauge

others...

I would either go with PLX/AEM. You can get the PLX with the display box for about as much as the AEM. I am not sure which has a better ratio though.

i'm really leaning toward plx right now

it is compatible with my datalogger...
i can get a gauge to read my a/f's

Zeitronix is not junk.

If your serious about tuning it's probably the one you want. It will log: A/F, Lamda, TPS, EGT, RPM, Boost, and more. He also just added a Palm program to log stuff onto a handheld.

NOOB QUESTION!

What is wideband used for and what types of things can you track with it?

Wait, aren't you turbo'd?

Wideband Oxygen sensors give out accurate air to fuel ratios with numbers and can also use a sweep design. The numbers will allow you to tune your car easier and to see how rich or lean you're actually running.

Dyno's use widebands to tune, but it's always safer to have your own as well, in case something goes wrong.

and for the honda world... narrow band o2 sensors don't really do ****...especially for a turbo'd honda

Yeah, WBO2 is the way to go for any type of forced induction. Including nitrous. So much more accurate tunes and much more power gains.

it doesn't help with power per se, what it does is give you a more accurate reading of what your spitting out your exhaust side of the head.

now if you could adjust those settings... thats what makes you gain power...

p.s clint... have you datalogged with your techedge? you say you're running rich, but what does your graphs look like?

Yeah, I meant using the accurate data to tune the car instead of using a sweeping NB or by-the-seat tune.

I actually don't have it yet. I was chatting with a friend who had all the same mods as me and who has a TE as well. Here's what he said after he first installed it with all the mods I have:

"up to 4k about 12.5:1. From 4k up (basically the whole powerband lol) about 11:1-11.7:1...AKA, rich as bill gates. I had to pull 16% of the fuel trim from 5k-7k with the afc JUST to get in the low 13:1 range"

I'm estimating the same results. I'll let you all know as soon as it's in my hands...which should be early next week.

i have an innovative, definetly a great piece. it's got a larger range than a lot of others lot there, data logs, and has all sorts of features. i have the LC-1 controller with a XD-1 gague. nice set up, easy to install, lots of neat little toys to play with, can't really go wrong. i got it for $350 shipped.

I'm going with the XD-1 and I can make a copy of my auto meter gauges so it will match :-)

Edit: damn didn't see the last post. But yes I'm gonna get the XD-1 with the LC-1

Hmm...

I got mine for 175 shipped....TE 2B0....

Oh well.

If you're going for the AEM, I have a place that sells em for 330. If you can find it cheaper, awesome, if not, lemme know.

I'm N/A. That's actually stock tuning. You just feel it a LOT more with mods.

12 is very rich for N/A and 11 is even worse, mang. That's horrible.

I have the AEM wideband and it's been great ever since it went in. Great for tuning and a nice little package that fits neatly in a gauge pod.

Dave, it was that special deal TROLL posted like two-three months ago where they were getting rid of the "old style/obselete" UEGO controller/gauges for like $250. I submitted my order and later that week they took down the add and raised the price back up to $400+ (but the SKU number still stayed the same?). I always "track" my order and it's always under backorder processing. I will call them later today to see what's going on and raise hell as to why no one called me to tell me that they "ran out" or should have done the smart thing and cancelled my order instead of leaving me hanging.

I'm running the PLX M-300 and I've been running it for over a year and I like it. It uses the bosch sensor and I run it all the time and it seems to be reading right. It let me know when my stock FPR took a crap on me and started to run real lean. I'll be able log the readings from it when pocketlogger finally gets done with the new tuner for the series 4 FC. It gets hard to tune with sometimes, but if you had a passenger to watch the wideband and the rpm's then it would be easier to tune with. I CAN'T wait until I can datalog everything.

I heard FJO are good units also.
