ok well as the title states im thinking of boosting my 4.3 vortec blazer. and not sure if i wanna turbo it or s/c it. keep in mind this is my only vehicle and will be building a different motor and trans for the truck. my goal is to go mid to high 13's. i just want something simple as i know all the parts i am going to buy im just not sure if i want it boosted. anyone have any input

I'd go turbo, because I like to divorce boost control from engine RPM, but that's just me.

I'd save my $ and put a carberated small block in it wit a turbo 350 tranny, there dime a dozen and basically all ya need is motor mounts (spend the $50 and get the adjustable 1s), headers and a rad. And a hammer to make a lil room in the fire wall for the distributer unless u get a compact dizzy. You'll spend A LOT less $. Just my oppinion and I know u asked about fi but just fig I'd throw it out there

Nitrous + fuel + head studs + bolt ons is your best bet for 13's. Also the cheapest, you will spend more turboing or s/c'ing the car than you paid for it.

man thats tough! i think the carb'ed 350 is a good option but not very streetable. along with the turbo, but the power from the turbo is a different kind of power. i have seen a turbo 4.3 but that was in a rx7. all depends on what you want to do the sc is cleaner but the power will not be as much as the turbo.

Go turbo, if you can fabricate and weld, you can do it cheapish and go way faster than you want to. And if you are really carefull with the tune you can do it on a stock shortblock. The only thing I would look into is the ability of the stock fuel injection to feed horsepower. Some of the 4.3's suck in that area

it's not that hard. plenty of people have built turbo kits for them. As for tuning, your best bet is to get a marine style intake manifold that has standard injectors. The manifold will plug into your factory harness and you just need to adapt the fuel rails. Then you'll need hptuners or some sort of tuning software to write a tune for it.

I just wanna say this.
Dont internally wastegate it.
I know a guy that lives by me, that Turbo'ed his Toyota Tacoma, His ' Taco '
He made the mistake of internally wastegateing it and now he cannot go about 4k RPM's or his Boost spikes above 40 psi.

its funny because your style blazer not sure about the xtreme's came with a L67 package which was a V8 idk what year exactly, but i have seen them...

That just means he has his boost control solenoid or boost controller all ****ed up. Being internally gated has nothing to do with it.

Well thats what he said. [ no homo ]
Does his Bov recirulating into his intake have anything too do with it?

Wynjammer makes a blower kit for S10's, my uncle got one for his ZR2 a few months ago, made 237 RWHP, up from probably 150. I think it's about $2500 for the whole kit.

If your going turbo, why don't you find a 4.3 turbo motor and start from there. And take the trans and drive train set up from an oldsmobile bravada and make it awd.
