So my coworker asked me to change the brakes on his 01 Tiburon...no big deal, right? Well I would love to castrate the person that has serviced this car before and the person who designed the goddam rotor retention screws out of hardened steel...also special thanks goes to Craftsman Bolt-outs (the screw in kind)...WORTHLESS PIECES OF **** GODDAMNIT, not only do they snap under the slightest pressure, but they're also impossible to drill out....

alot of cars are like that. Drill them out and do not use them anymore.

4 Bosch Titanium bits...the steel is hard as crap...when I was banging on it it wouldn't even get scrathed up...

I've used the craftsman ones once before and like you they broke right away. I ended up calling my snap on guy and had him drop off a set of left hand drill bits with exctractors. The bits are amazing and I ended up using them to drill the craftsman exctractor out. They are pretty cheap considering they have the snap on name on them but worth every penny.

If you go to the snap on website and search for EXDL10 that is the set I have and would suggest

I will buy a set of those, but to complete the story here's what happened next:

While I was waiting for my new drill to charge up we decided to take a look at the other side...whadya know, there were no retaining screws there, so we though - piece of cake. Two hours later I broke the 1/2 drive 17 mil socket and a 2' breaker bar and that was the end of it...tightened everything back up and returned the car with old brakes on. I'll take it to my friend's shop tomorrow, since I have no more desire to screw around with this thing. Whoever tightened all of those things is a complete moran... those caliper bracket bolts must have been tightened to 250-300 lbs cause me jumping on the breaker bar did not loosen them (I'm 230 lbs) ...it just broke the breaker bar. Anyhow I am now officially DEFEATED BY A HYUNDAI. Is that lame or what???

impact screw drivers ftw. It is the only way to get those little screws out.

it is a Hyundai, trust me I know. At least you didn't have to cut the rotor off which is quite common.

If I had a grinder I would have.... in fact as of this morning I have a grinder...I jsut didn't feel like cutting the rotor..

Severely warped import rotors almost ALWAYS mean hammer and chisel / grinder time...

Definately sucks ass lol.

To conclude the epic defeat - I didn't have a big enough hammer....a 3lb sledge was able to get the rotors off...
