My step brother just told me that the super wawa on 413 in levittown is scamming people on the pumps. He said it is stealing your money. He doesn't joke around about money.
Now, I don't know how this would be accomplished, but I wouldn't doubt it being done.
Has anyone else heard anything about this? Is it bull****?

Well if you mean cheap you out of gas thats not going to happen, check for the Dept of Weights and Measures sticker on it and check the date. They also put seals on the adjustments. I highly doubt they even know how to do it but I could. The only true way to do it is with a 5 gallon prover can.

Thats a Very broad Statement...But I doubt it's the Actual "WAWA" Scamming your brother...More like a Person or Persons trying to commit fraud of some sort...More Information would be Helpful.

I wasn't talking about wawa itself, but yeah someone else. I don't know how it would be done, or if it really is being done. Someone messing with the credit card machine on the pump itself. However, I don't know if they would be able to accomplish that with the cameras that are all around there.
I just figured it was said to me, I would rather spread the word of the possibility of such instead of letting it happen to more people.
The economy sucks right now, so I wouldn't put it past anyone.
It was Paid credit I'm sure, because he mentioned the "Credit Card Machines".

Lol. Yes it seems farfetched. But if this was in fact going on, I'd be pissed if no one said anything because they think it is a ridiculous thought.

well most older dispensers have a calibration knob on the outside of the meter housing located above the pump or the earthquake valve. I am certified to calibrate them. Some new designs have pulsars which read flow with a sensor, these you need software to set the parameters. The later is becoming the standard so station owners can't get away with it.

There is or was a station on Oxford Valley road I think that was double charging people for gas. Our babysitter's friend lives in Millcreek and it happened to her, then the babysitter checked her account and they nabbed her too. Disputing it with the CC company eventually got it back, but how many people never noticed?
As long as they get a copy of your CC receipt, they can rack up whatever they want until they get caught.

heres what is happening....the is a way, im not sure how it works but it goes like this.....scammers are somehow putting devices on the pumps that somehow retreive your cc info....much like the way it was being done to atms at one point, you swipe your card...they steal your info

Yeah...In PA it is most likely a Machine that captures it in NJ where we have Gas attendents pump it for you it could be them taking down the numbers inside the Kiosks...But It's different in PA b/c you have to pump the gas yourself.

I know that a lot of gas stations charge more if you pay with a credit card, but I doubt it's related.

Front page of yesterdays Bucks County Courier Times... my homie Ben Finley wrote the article :)
http://phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/111-06202008-1551987.html
Its not Wawa thats doing it, its a thief that got into the pump and installed a 'skimmer' which allows you to use the pump normally but it saves your credit card information and sends it to the thief so he can steal your monies. Read the article for more details, but the important thing is that it was found and removed, and they're checking other gas stations for them now as well. They said if you've used that Wawa in the last 3 weeks to verify your credit card purchases very carefully in case there are any charges, and consider having the CC number changed just as a precaution.

i heard on the radio that several gas stations around the area were caught messing with there scales or something so that they were charging you for more gas than you got, i.e.12 gallons when you really only pumped 10. i dont remember which ones it was cause they were no where near me.

the wawa in aston, pa changed it at least 3 times a day when gas kept rising.

and again with wawa in aston, pa...i put $30 bucks of gas into my car and i barely got to half a tank when i was on a 1/4 of a tank. i did the same thing a week later at a different gas station, same price, and got all the way from 1/4 of a tank to 3/4 of a tank. so yea i never go to that wawa anymore for gas. especially now one station charges you 10 cents less if you pay cash.
