Damn, I've been reading this thread since I got home from work at 10, took a 2 hour break at 12:30, and I'm back at it again.

I'm on page 54 now.

dont bother with all 60 pages, just search user name 'The A1 and A2 German' then click search post bodies in the lower left. it'll list all his posts in the thread which are the only ones that really matter.

unless you want to read 60 pages:)

Cliff Notes:

guy lives in a housing development with a HOA (home owners association) that decided to charge residents to use parking passes on their own cars in their own driveway and boot cars that are parked in the street w/ a $140 fine to remove boots.

Guy parks on street and gets 2 boots put on his car, puts his car on dollies and pushes it into his garage (not a DD). Calls parking authority and tells them to come get their boots, they say pay the fine, he refuses. They call the cops and the cops say they cant do anything because he hasn't technically stolen or vandalized anything. They take off the boots without getting the fine and threaten to sue him.

The next day, the parking authority takes it out on all the other residents by booting anything that was parked crooked.

Last I checked the guy was trying to get a petition and take donations for his court defense and was trying to get the local media involved.

slow day at work...

Guy continues to argue with parking auth and gets copy of their contract w/ the HOA. He points out that the PA had been charging $140 instead of $90 that the HOA agreed on. He also finds out that they were required to give 2 warnings before being able to boot.

Guy doesn't get arrested but after pointing these facts out to the HOA people start getting warnings instead of immediate boots. He is also told that the boot removal fine is now $40.

Good for him... All parking authorities have ways of scamming the general public even if you have a pass. West Chester, PA Borough for example. For two days out of the week they limit you to parking on only one side of the street, the reason for this is to allow room for the streets sweeper to roll through. All fine and good until you realize that your block that normally allows for 60 parking spots is no limited to 30 spots for the same 60+ cars tying to park. If there are no spots on the legal side of the street you are forced to park illegally hence a $20 fine.

when i went to go visit my friend in north carolina...he lives in a development that's watched by someone/something.

I was there for three days, for the three days i parked on the street/sidewalk. Two days AFTER i leave and get back home...my friend gets a letter from "the homeowners association." The letter said something like "please remove truck from grass/sidewalk IMMEDIATELY"

I don't see what the big deal is with these parking things. I guess it gives people jobs and companies/"associations" chances to give out fines

HA! I remember this when I was in college, moving the cars every wednesday night.

West Chester is TERRIBLE with parking, at least they were in 00-03 when I went to school there. Now they have a bunch of new parking garages so it may have gotten better. I remember going to the parking authority building to get our guest passes and getting the 3rd degree from the attendant trying to disprove that we lived in the borough. They required 2 forms of identification and two separate utility bills to prove residency, and told us that cell phone bills don't count for some stupid reason. On top of all that they still made us jump through hoops to eventually get the permits.
