Does anyone know of any networking groups in the tristate area? Even if it is something that a friend or parent attends, I would like to get into one or two of them.

Not either one. Im looking for professional ones not social networks. I had no idea what nambla was....lol

The kind that I am looking for meet about once a month and are comprised mainly of business people. I knew of a few in north jersey when I was in school up there.

hahaha wtf
pick an industry not just "business people" people just don't meet up when they have nothing to really discuss.
IT? finance? entrepreneurs?
you gotta be specific

I'm not a member with them, but BNI is one of the bigger networking groups in the area. I know a couple of companies who are members in the Montgomery County chapter. I believe they have breakfast once a week (or month), and they have chapters all over the country.

There is more point in networking outside of your field than inside. Though both are important.

Me, I'm not going to sit around and talk to other web developers... I'd rather be at a meeting of people in all kinds of fields... they're more likely to need my services, and I'm more likely to need theirs. Much more so than other web developers

To the OP, check out your local Chamber Of Commerce. Most businesses in an area will be a member, or show up to meetings every once in awhile. They're great venues to start networking in... they may also lead to better networking possibilities closer to what you're looking for.

it sounds like you're talking about small business networking where you can discuss and share ideas and assist each other.
i've had much more value talking to a CIO of a large corp rather than a CEO of a large corp (i've never met another CEO lol)

Oh, I think I saw something about this on Dateline. This is how gay sex works.

Just go to meetup.com. Choose your local area. There are many groups that meet monthly. My friend and I were running a South Jersey Business Owners Group. He met someone there, sold his company to him and is now running his internet advertising department.
BTW this isn't only for business, but also general interest like movies, etc...
