yaaaaaaaay :supz::supz::supz::supz::supz::supz:

anyway...

Here's the deal... looking for something used w/ a warranty (ie: less than 2-3 years old) the kicker... my max is 40k... this brings a lot into play that would normally be expensive.

I don't know the used car market to well for luxury coupes... think, bmw, lexus, mercedes... or higher end sports coupes... ie: porsche...

no hondas, no acuras, no infiniti's... no brand new cars (I can research those myself) and no e46 M3... (I can research those myself as well...)

Car must be drivable year round... it can't be something I'm going to want really do anything to (though I'm nearly 100% positive i'm going to look into after market stuff for it anyway...)

I'm not sure what the depreciation on the higher end luxury cars is, so I need a little extra help looking around...

I've got a few new cars I'm looking into, 135i, CTS, IS250... etc

Cool "problem" to have :) And with 40k, you can do QUITE well for yourself.

Can you be more specific on "driveable year round"? Does that mean AWD? That really limits your choices....does that mean sedan? Just wondering what the specific criteria is.......

A few of my picks would be as follows:

- CPOed 335i Coupe. Sporty, lux interior, and with about 3 grand can be VERY fast.

- Audi S4. V8 rumble, sporty, room for 5 (ok 4, but still) and practical all year round.

- Porsche Cayman. Amazing handle, says PORSCHE on it, German design, nice enough to take anywhere (dinner, meetings, business events, etc)

- Infiniti M45 (or M35). Great looking car, if you go with the M45 - V8 rumble - nice interior + gadgets for the money.

- MB E55 AMG. Not sure if some of the higher mile cars are within your budget but these cars ROCK. Nuff said.

Good luck and have fun man....shopping for a new car is one of the most fun things out there. And if you need quotes on what each will cost you on insurance per month - you know where to go :D

I saw a new CTS the other day.

OMFG! WANT! Get the CTS-V if you can though.

awd is not necessary...

what does "CPOed" mean?

I was at the porsche dealer and they had an 05 S4 for 31k sitting on the lot... manual too... I wandered around the car for a good minute or so... and guess what... no sales people... this was after I left my info with one guy letting him know I had 40-50k to spend...

and you're right... having this "problem" sure is nice ;)

But, if I don't fall in love with a car I'll end up in a honda fit or something lol

the cayman is nice... I didn't think they were hitting the 40k mark used yet...

this is why i asked... amazingly AMG didn't pop into my head... and I'm a fan of mercedes...

if I could... I would... but 60k+ is not something I want to spend... i could afford the payments... and life in general... but I'd pretty broke all of the time lol

you're about half an hour down 202... I'm not 100% ready to buy, maybe next month... but are you around saturday morning? I've got a family thing in willow grove (an hour away in the other direction) at 4pm...

I'm def interested since the price is right... and much less than my max...

I know a few people that either own or work at dealerships... so the only way I'm going to buy is from someone that falls into that category... deals make the world go 'round

ah... I may be sold already lol... I know the car can perform... and its a great price...

Get a 335i (RWD) or a 335xi (AWD). I guess you would get the AWD since it would be easier to drive year round. If you search vids on youtube you can see people driving them in snow.

Even tho the blue 335i / xi looks nice, I'd suggest not getting one. They seem to be in a lot of accidents LOL (I've worked on 4 since I started at a BMW, Mercedes, Porsche/Audi dealer just over a month ago.)

Go for the metallic black or the dark metallic gray.

You can get a used one with a few thousand miles and still all the warranties in your price range. New they are in the mid $40k to nearly $60k depending on options.

The dealership has a used 06 330xi for $36k. I like the 335 more tho. http://sunmotorcarsbmw.com/used_vehicle_details.htm?vehicleId=fb66a3be4046381 e0118abfed6172932

Throw some Dinan mods into the 335 and have something that can compete with a M3 while saving thousands even after the mods.

Heres a review comparing a stage 3 Dinan 335i vs a M3.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4gGzq4Pyv8Q

If I wasnt more focused on getting my own place or at least an apartment, I would get a 335i. I've had a pic of a 335 as my avatar for the past few weeks.

hmm... the dinan stage 2 tuning for the 135i is a mere 2k... bringing the base 300 hp to 384 AND the vehicle retains its warranty since the tune is installed at a BMW dealership... temptation...

Go 1 series. I love the evo X but with a 1 series you still have BMW class while still owning a true sports car.

Scapegoat

i wouldn't necessarily call the 135i a true sports car...

But I'm definitely taking a look at them before making a decision. But the Evo X seems to fit the bill nicely... its nicer looking than the predecessor, certainly more refined looking than the SRT-4 in terms of appearance and technology. Works nicely year round, easily upgradeable.

I think I have myself sold... I just need to take one out. But I also need to look into the 135i before making a final decision

Get a carrera 4 or a carrera 4S for the sport coupe side. Then just throw blizzaks on it when the time comes if needed..honestly it doenst snow much here and when it does they salt the roads, but the AWD will give you that assurance. We have plenty of these cars and I can assure you they drive pretty damn well, ive even driven one in the snow this past winter and it was fine

If you want to go the luxury route, look at BMW, they are the only german company I hear that make their cars with reliability in mind.

Recently, BMW has been declining in reliability. Before(pre 2000), they made cars very reliable, but now they are slightly going down hill. It is nothing with the engines, its just some electronics and things like that. This may not apply to all BMW's, but something to think about.

Well I dont know a single European car company that doesnt have reliability issues...come to think of it every manufacturer has some issues of some sort, Europe is just known for not making good electronics in their cars

and the price of these carrera's?
If you look hard, you can find some that are in the 00-02 range for right around 40 (carrera 4)...hell we sold an 03 coupe with 19k miles on it for like 45k it wasnt AWD but really do you want to drive a Porsche in bad weather?? Id think you would be better to get a beater and just keep the road salt and **** off of it

If you are going to buy a convertible one, do it out of season, youll save a few thousand, coupes are generally the same year round but in the summertime since convertibles are more in, you might be able to snag a coupe cheaper

not a fan of infinities

Um... going to see Kevin at the mitsu dealership tomorrow after work... we'll see what happens, but I may bring home an 08 Evo X...

I went to 5 dealers monday after work... porsche, ford, mazda, subaru, dodge... good conversation w/ sales person... explained what cars I was looking at, the price I was looking to spend... showed interest in cars a few k more than my 'budget'... got no where... no offers to test drive or look at the car...

went from "looking to spend 40-50k... that 53k porsche boxster is a little more than I want to spend... sure is nice..." to looking at a 31k 05 S4... Looked at a 49k GT500... and the base GT's and the Bullitt... to the MX-5... new SRT-4 to the SRT-8... the furthest I got was at the subaru dealer when I ASKED to see the interior and engine of the solstice GXP on the lot... (24k, 08 w/ 4k on the clock!)

how more blatant do I have to be at a dealer to show them I'm genuinely interested, knowledgeable, and have money to spend?

I'm possibly stopping at the BMW in devon to look at the 135i... but I'm pretty much sold on the Evo X after reading reviews and weighing the price/performance versus other cars.

PS: PM me your number so I can grab a quote from ya tomorrow... I've been dealing with the same nationwide agent for years now... so it'll be tough to get me from him since he's been stellar. But seeing as how I'll be paying more per month on the Evo X should I buy it... any money saved is good shtuff

Carrera 4s is very nice. There was a black one with tan leather in the other day to get some light scratches buffed out and it had a few chips on the drivers fender and somehow the roof... Both the fender and roof were completely repainted... because of 1-2 chips on each.

I didn't get to go over 5mph tho... just moved it around the shop some.
