i got a 94 seville that cranks but wont start. if you prime the system 3 or 4 times it will start and run for a couple seconds and die out. it runs on ether, so i think i have a fuel problem. i replaced the spark plugs this morning and it fired right up and ran for a minute, then started missing and eventually died. this is my first GM and i never touched a northstar before so im looking for some insight before i figure it out for myself.:thumbup:

your not getting any fuel. check your fuel filter. maybe pull a rail and point it into a bucket and have somebody turn it over.

forgot to mention, filter was the first thing i did. im not an amateur by any means. the rail on this car is a weird setup. i never seen anything like it. its actually inside the intake manifold, so i cant just lift it off. i tried that the other night, and i was getting fuel from at least 3 injectors that i could see. but as soon as you lift the rail off it disconnects from the fuel line. kinda hard to explain. im leaning toward the regulator. i think im gonna throw one in tomorrow and see what it do.

does it matter if its been sitting overnight or not? i'm changing my injectors as we speak since they leaked gas when it was off.

i'd also see if you can check your fuel pressure...on my jimmy the truck would start with a little starter fluid in the intake, the old pump didn't have enough pressure to start the truck. i'm hoping that they put a small port in the engine bay so you can check your fuel pressure

All I know is that the northstar motors suck. Most of the problems with them are headgasket related, usually warranting engine replacement, since the tolerances are next to nil, as is block/head thickness, and once coolant work is done, GM's coolant "additive" must be used, basically gm's approved stop leak.

yea. ended up being a fuel pump. pressure was there just not enough volume. was actually a lot easier to do than i anticipated.

**** it. for $400 i cant really argue. cars got 180k on it, but the way it runs and drives i would be very surprised if it has the original motor and trans. its so smooth.
