I have the opportunity to purchase a LS1 M6 1996 miata. Ive ALWAYS wanted one. price isnt bad ($14,000) and I would sell my supercharged 1996 miata asap for $5500. The car has its big ups and small down. The mileage on this has 180K on the body only and 40K engine/trans/ ect ect. but it is a M-ed. (leather, power options ect) mine has 83K but base model (crank windows and stuff). Ive done a lot of research because I have come very close to building a 5.0 miata before I sold it and bought this one I currently have. I can't duplicate the V8 miata for the money I can buy it.

Do it. V8 Miata's are bad ass. So are V8 MGB's. There is a mechanic up the street that has/had a 5.0 in one before.

Do it. Especially since you've always wanted one.

Definitely do it, long as you are up to the maintenenace of a chassis that high, replacing bushings/various chassis components just from age.
Sounds like a fun car tho.

I'd be happy with either, but LS1 > SC 4banger. Although if I could I'd be all over the SC Miata-

yes that is the car. exact one. weird... a ls6 engine and trans is about 5500, martin motorsports V8 kframe ect is 4000, narrowed 9inch rear with custom driveshaft is prob 3500... all this plus labor and countless custom made parts.

Depends if you can fabricate or not. There's like a 10K+ difference in pricing just depending on that alone, lol.

Yeah I wasn't to sure how much the motor and tranny went for. You might be able to talk him down a little, but not much.

Not to be a negative nancy but I think all the power would spoil the "fun" factor of a miata..there can be too much of a good thing, although it would certainly be a cool car to have
