So I went to connect my tv to my laptop as an external display and when I first connected it my comp recognized it and gave me the options of just using the external or extending the display and all. So I chose extend to the right, and when I did that my laptop screen went blank and my tv is saying no signal. When I unplug it and everything my laptop is still blank. Anyone know what's up??

Didn't do anything. Its weird. If I unplug the vga and restart my computer it comes back on fine. But then when I go back in to set up the external display it'll just go blank and my tv still says no signal. Any other suggestions?

Are you sure your video card can handle this? How old is the laptop?

its only like 4-5 months old....it worked with my desktop which is like 5 years old. Its giving me the option of it, i think its just the tv not picking up on it for some reason. But its the same tv i used with my desktop

It may be Function (Fn) + F7. It could also be another F key (it is Fn + F4 on my compaq).
Give it about 5 seconds after you press the key combo for any changes to take effect.
