Its been over a month since my car moved. Slowboy finally stopped living up to their name and sent my custom compressor housing. Now, all i need to do is cram a Perrin 3" inlet hose under the stock intake manifold while keeping the TGVs and their motors on the car.

alachua
09-26-2005, 09:58 PM
no, there is a passage under there to exit...but apparantly, that housing is meant to be affixed without a back plate using some sort of snap ring. It is also meant for an externally gated turbo, as there is no way to affix an internal gate's actuator to it. It is the wrong housing...but slow boy is going to take it back, and hopefully get me the correct housing.

This turbo project has been the most tiring thing I have undertaken in a long time. At this point, I have decided that I won't even bother getting the car fully tuned until next spring, and instead, will spend the money on fixing my pickup truck...

for all those keeping score, I have terrible luck. Oh, and there is no such thing as Karma, trust me.

Here is your problem....neVar order from SBR...again. The best advice I can give anyone. Sure they will gladly take it back and send you what's right hopefully it won't take 2-3 months. The only thing that sucks (that I really really want to order) are their internal o2 dumps. But I have been holding back and waiting for someone else to start producing them.

You ever hear me let on my car Ash? And there is just this beastly kinda sound. That's the o2 dump, it's used for venting the wastegate gases to the atmosphere. To put it simply, the less exhaust a turbo has, the better the exhaust for that turbocharger! It also helps eliminate a crap load of boost creep.

its a mitsi thing you wouldnt understand.
You shush...go spend your $5k to knock off a second.

Ok ok, put it this way...Stock, these gases are sent back to the main exhaust via the O2 housing. Some aftermarket manufacturers make an O2 housing that allows you to dump these gases straight from the wastegate to the atmosphere. This supposedly reduces spool uptime, and increases flow drastically, and helps with boost creep. It's also loud as hell and get's the male attention j/k

Atually it was the same time.

Sorry to hear about that Cliff, I hate when companies rip you off like that. SilverBullet just went through the same thing with another company with there header for the LSJ motor. Anyway hope you get that dealt with quickly.

My car is still broke.
Slowboy sucks ass.

Think that wraps it up nicely...they didn't name those 'notes' after me for nothing.

Slowboy said to get the housing back to them through full throttle. I shipped it yesterday, it should be there tomorrow.

Once this project is done, there will be a full thread thanking all those involved that deserve it, and one recounting all the issuses with SBR.

As for his taint...I figure I deserve it, seeing on how I gave him the avatar.

well, just to bump an old ass thread:

Last week I finally thought to myself "hey, remember that housing you ordered...damn, you never got the other one back." So I called Full Throttle who was very polite about refunding my money. The person I spoke with said that when she saw an open invoice that old, she called SBR, and they said they had talked to me, and I never got back to them. I guess I mistook calling 4 times and being told the person I needed to talk to not being there, for telling them not to worry about my part.

Anyway, full throttle was very good in handling the situation, I am out prolly $40 for shipping, and have no intention of trying to get the correct housing any more. I will make due with my make shift setup until I decide to sell it and put a Holset on the car.

Sorry i am a noob but holest?

They come on Dodge turbo diesels. Deadbolt (www.boostplanet.com) has some info about them. They are very effecient, tend to spool quite well for a larger turbo, and can be had cheap.

Though, it will require some 'customizing'.
