ok well me and a friend were talking to the owner of englishtown about a rally course. i am trying to see if there actually would be any interest and if anyone would actually come. matt set up the whole drift thing for him so he trusts us but wants to know if there is any interest so i am curious. its just a thought as of now but he is very interested if it seemed like it would make him money

It's going to have dirt, trees, bushes, jumps and whatever else a sweet rally course would have. I want to put a moat in with a jump over it, maybe a draw bridge, something like that.
I also want a ring of fire.
But before all that happens, we would need people to come out and actually participate if we were to hold events. It's a definite possibility and there are a lot of people on here who have cars that would be great for this, but how many would actually drive their cars on a rally course? They don't have to be AWD cars, pretty much anything could work.

I would like a local Rally-X course. There is no way I would ever put my DD on a true rally course with any jumps though.
what you need is a head to head super special stage course

argentina dirt

I'd take the srt through the dirt and mud and real shallow water. But no jumps and no horrible bumps. I'm not asking for a smooth surface, just nothing like speed bumps over and over and over again...
but i'd def love to get the srt dirty

I would 100% do this. My car as it sits is perfect for this, and even if I end up making it not dirt friendly I would go buy a beat ass VW or Subaru andparticipate.
If you guys can figure out a way to make it happen, or would need help doing so, I am in full support. Curious to see how this would work.

NJ Police require all cars participating in a off-road rally to have full cage and fire suppresion. This is why SJ SCCA has been trying to hold a event, but have not been able to do so in the past few years.

I've searched for what your talking about and can't find it, do you have links to this so we would know what cars need.

I need to search around the local SCCA Rally-X boards. (may take a day or so) I have yet to look in to this personally, but I've heard a story of the last rally-x in NJ being shut-down by the po po, and the fines weren't easy to take :( Things may have changed but I just don't want the same thing to go down again.
I'd be all up for helping where I can, I doubt I would submit the focus to that kind of torture... Specially since I know it's just waiting to blow-up on me in the most in-opportune time!

I MIGHT be interested, But Thing is, Would it be open on non event Days to practice.. kind of like Drag's TnT days.. I mean, people DO need a place to Practice. Same with the drifters complaining of not enough practice time.. Once a month just doesn't cut it... Also, What would be required for such things.. I mean If This guy is right, we would need Rollcages and Fire suppression in EVERY car.. Some of us don't have money like that or Just Dont have a car that has that stuff in it let along a necessity for it yet.
Would buggies be allowed?

mike you know im definatly down and you and i both know about 20-30 people thatd be down also...why dont we start a list or something of people that would be intrested in this whole bit and maybe you can present it to the owner, rally x track is better than being chased by park patrol in the pine barrens, believe me haha. this would turn e town into an automotive amusement park!!

I think you would have lots of trouble trying to get this under way. You should hold a big meeting at the track before this would happen to show that people are seriously interested. You can get a lot of talk of saying people want to do it but not get the crowd you will need for it to actually be successful. That track is a business and wouldn't want to waste money into something that would not work out. People wouldn't want to put a cage in a daily driver either. Should see how serious the course might be, like if there will be serious jumps and what other obstacles there will be.

Hey Mike, Matt. I can def. say I would at least show up and pay the entrance fee along with gathering some heads to show up with me. I would love to also give it a shot but like mentioned the only way Id do it is if the course was flat'ish (no jumps, major bumps etc.) At least not untill I got the right suspension.
I know the one parking lot in the back left would be perfect for this. If you do get this going and need help with track prep please IM or email me cause im in and would love to help out!!!

Hope it goes down. Would open up a whole other can of worms for the Tri State.

I don't know on a DD. I caught air when I was ran off the road. As much fun as I had, I didn't enjoy blowing out a tire and an end link.

I would be down. Rally X or a little more hardcore rally would be sweet. No 60' X games jumps for my car

I think those pictures are from a Philly Region RallyX at Grandview. The last one definitely is.
I would definitely support a site that would support a RallyX at Englishtown. I am sure that a bunch of my friends would be interested as well.

Sign me up!!!!! I'll gladly volunteer my time on the weekends to help set up the course. I ran heavy equipment for a living for almost 12 years before a neck injury made me switch professions. Have e-town do a one time weekend rental on a small dozer and I'll make a bad ass track in two days. Then on the weekends that the event happens I'll bring my 4x4 tractor and landcsape rake out to keep the track groomed between heats. PM me if enough interest is generated and the track needs to be built.

Have you spoken with Nasa or Scca? if they are nice courses,I am sure one of them would rent the track out, and have structure to classes and rules.

We might be able to make the whole course with just my machine depending on how rough the area where the track would go is.

Not to beat a dead horse but whats the reasoning behind it not happening? E-town not on board or lack of guys wanting to run it?
