I'm just seeing what kind of offers I can get for this, it doesn't need to be sold so don't waste my time if your not serious. I recently bought the car without knowing much about it. I've been into a lot of different cars but a Subaru was new to me. I drove the car to my shop and it has for the most part been taking up space. I began minor diagnosis but haven't come to any definite conclusions yet. The car smokes terribly, when I picked it up, it stumbled over itself a lot but after some driving it smoothed out. It would stutter on low RPM's but would occasionally open up and has spun all 4 wickedly loose in 2nd in its slight outbursts of power. I have determined that the manifold gaskets needed replaced and that the plugs were fouled. I also found the oil return line was horribly ran and unless you dwell in a zero-gravity habitat, oil will not find its way back to the pan (ie: it backs up and blows through the seals on the turbo, creating constant smoke as well as sending oil through the entire motor). I have yet to take car of this as time has not permitted, to drop the pan and do it right I would need to pull the motor or remove the entire crossmember. With that being said, I will move to the mod list.

What motor is this? There's no such thing as a EJ22G unless you mean the 1st gen Legacy turbo motor or a JDM EJ20G.
wow another brilliant red RS, the second rarest 98 RS color.

good luck with the sale!

sorry, I recall the engine code having a "G" but I may be wrong. Its a closed deck legacy 2.2.T motor, the heads may be the 2.5 heads, I'm not sure but someone on Nasioc mentioned something about that.

I know the car looks like a mess but I can assure you its nearly flawless cosmetically. The car needs attention under the hood and new front brake rotors, nothing else. Thanks for looking guys, feel free to ask any questions or share any input as I said in my first post, I do not know all of the details of this car.

thats an ej22t. You can call it G if you want though. The ej20g is the same style engine. closed deck goodness.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong, but should the strut adjustment be for camber? It looks like it slides forward, kind of a caster adjustment.

G/L with the sale though. :)

How much you looking to get for it? Couldn't be an EJ22G unless you were lucky enough to one out of a 22B. What pete said X2. They look to be 2.5 RS heads based on the valve covers.

what does the car need to be fully fixed?

Hoak
05-29-2008, 10:02 AM
Not 100% sure. I think the oil return line needs re-run correctly and the plugs need changed. Besides that, it needs an exhaust gasket, front rotors, and put together.
