not trying to prove a point i just wanted to show the people on here that hate on em. and inform people how realllly underrated these cars are. these are one of the most swapable cars i know of. 3.4dohc,3.8,3.8s/c,3.8 turbo,4cyl quad cam,4.3,sbc,caddy northstar, lsx, not to mention turboing the stock 2.8v6. they can be made fast as hell and to handle very well for a cheap price. also people are throwing 12 inch corvette breaks on em.
3000gt dash swaps, camaro or firebird dash swaps. the fiero community is a very close groupe and you bearly see any rice. people are swapin in 6 speeds also.
fiero wing on a 240

http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/070881.html
check out the orange and black one,on the 6th post the white one is an indy pace car, right under it is a bad ass red one and to inform everyone the hood scoops on a fiero that people add are to increase downforce at speed because air gets under the car and has nowhere to go. the white car under the red one has is a v8. a couple posts down are custom converts.
and the last thread for now because i misplaced the links
http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/040418-4.html some choptops some are beautiful some are ehhh lol. sorry for taken so much space just some people hate without looking. if ya feel feel the same its all good lol just wanted to show ya guys and intercooled t on here will also agree
thanks for the space and time
there are wayyyyyy nicer cars and ill find the pics if people want em they are 100% nicer then this i just gotta find em again

Being a fan of the MR2, I've always respected Fieros. In the swap world they are way ahead of the MR2. I dunno... I guess my point is, I'm not one of the haters. I would love to drive one of these to compare it to the 1st gen MR2 body style.

the first year had a recall where if it wasnt caught they caught on fire there actually safe cars considering there all plastic

From Wikipedia:
"it was fitted with a fuel efficient version of Pontiac's 2.5L 4-cylinder engine capable of 27 mpg (US) (8.7 L/100 km/32 mpg imp) in the city and 40 mpg (US) (5.9 L/100 km/48 mpg imp) on the highway with the economy-ratio transmission option."
I'm about to find one of those for a daily driver!
On a side note, this one doesn't look too bad:

whats garbage the fiero??? the 87 gt at my house is 150,000 miles and going strong needed nothing but mantince and not even alot at that oil changes and one clutch
also the picture above the mercury posted does not match the info that is the gt and they have the 2.8 v6 it gets around 25-30mpg

My first car was a Fiero GT. The handling was nice unless you went over a short hill/bump where the back end would want to gently go one way or the other. I had this Holley air scoop that screwed onto the side and I thought I was badass. One cool thing was the climate control buttons were all electronic. I've seen one with a Northstar swap, hard to believe you can shoehorn that in there.
I actually sold the fiero for a '84 cutlass. PIMP.

That orange/black one's owners are some of the goddamn weirdest ****ers I've ever seen. Dude looks like a comic book store clerk, all giving everyone dirty looks with their matching 'fiero' outfits. Car really wasn't even that nice.
Kit Car Natls. is a ****ing joke. Always has and always will be. There's like 1 or 2 cool manufacturers there to check out and the rest is littered with ****.
That said, fieros CAN be really cool, I like them alot in certain forms, but I don't like the fact I feel like I'm going to die if someone leans against my door. That white 2m4 car with the silver 5 spoke konieg looking wheels is badass. I think I like those more than the fastback cars.

People hate on them b/c its a GM  I actually saw someone on a nissan board call the LSx engine "a POS chevy engine" most people are just uninformed douches
My buddy has a 88 the stock "iron duke" engine is garbage but a restored modded fiero is very nice

there we go some non haters. ill always love the fastback style its just an awsome look. **** i was in one when it got totaled. looks brand new with a clean title now. couldnt even tell it got it. parents had it since new passed it on to me 150k on it only basic mait. was needed

it was actually the first 2 years on the 2.5L. The engine harness would get too hot and catch fire... :) The best year is an 88, and 87 is ok too. I <3 fieros... :)

Thats the only show at Carslile I bother going to anymore. Saabs, Volvos, the weirdest european cars, Citroens, just some of the wackiest cars you won't see any where else. Shame the swap meet sucks anymore and I am still kicking myself for not buying the set of 5 15" BBS RS for$185... at the time I didnt know what they were...

07-29-2008, 09:29 PM
Also on an ending note finding parts is a pain in the *** and when you do find them they differ in price so much, set of rear claipers on line $150 rear calipers pepboys $40 a peice and you can always find a parts fiero for $500 on craigslist, i found my 86 se V6 for 500 with 70k on it only needed a fuel pump and egr valve to run and i need to replace the brake system due tothe fact im not going to trust 22 year old brakes but other than that there a cheep car to get parts for you just have to look hard enough. but there fun to drive because they handel like there on train rails and even for being real old and having a small 6 in them there preformance and mpg is actuley impressive.

My brother has one of the first red 84 4cyl SE's ever built I think. He's the original owner, still uses it as his daily driver. For being a GM car from the 80's, I always handled very well. Its had its issues, but no more so than any other car someone's held on to for 24 years.

I really like that red one...
I will always have a soft spot for Fieros, my dad had a white '84 SE. Yeah, it was balls-slow, and had a 4 speed manual, but I didn't care - the interior lit up red and it was so tiny and low to the ground that I thought it was cool as ****. I have nothing but respect for people who work them up, and I've DEFINITELY seen some extremely nice examples.

i've always kindof wanted to do a custom swap fiero project... possibly a 3sgte swap. seems to be a decent platform, obviously you'd need to upgrade drivetrain and suspension components.
These things handle well tho, right?

lol i was drivin mine with bad brakes and on turns its almost to the point where who needs brakes.
and also theres endless possabilitys to what you can do with them rebodys theres to many gm engines you can drop in there V8's V6 including 3400 3800 3800SC (3900 ive herd of it i think its out of a malbu) even ecotec motors in my opinion you can do more with one of them than a civic and most hondas.

I also just found out mines a pig on gas my gas gauge is a part time worker so it only reads right when its standing still (sometimes) but i put 7 gallons on it and only got about 120 miles before i ran outa gas on my way home thought my fuel pump had gone again but its not bad, but hey you gota pay the cost to be the boss.

fieros are one of the cars i wanted when i 1st started getting into cars. theyre sick. but honestly the whole mid engine thing kinda scared me away. otherwise they are like firebirds little brother and mr2s cousin.

Vince,
This one was at Thunderbolt/NJMP yesterday for the track day, big new LS V8 power, IMO a very nice tube frame Fiero racecar. I told him I know of a GS Lexus ready to kick his butt and he said he's ready...so let me know when you're bringin it out ;) Mark from LIP was also there in his Frankenstein Camaro.

that gto was in hotrod or carcraft a little bit back. that fiero is has an imsa kit on it like the widebody part. i plan on going with that kit and also the imsa whale tail that matches. it looks soo bad ass when done right and you can fit some mean ass tires under it but this is going to be a street car daily driver. itll be done within the next year maby year and a half as i dont make alot of money being 17. but when it is done i plan to have mine right with the yellowstone car but only better
