I hit up wawa on bethlehem pike near fort washington tonight around 11pm and went in to get my hoagie... while i was waiting for it to be done, a cop walks in, with a smile on his face and goes 'you know your tint is probably illegal right?' i respond, 'uh i guess? it looks darker at night then it does during the day' he then laughs.

he ends up talking to me about what tint is legal and whats not. then offers to take a measurement of my tint. i go, 'well you're not going to ticket me are you' and he tells me he wont, just wants to give me a heads up.

he ends up measuring it for me, apparently im at 23%. He said the limit in PA is 70%.

I started talkig to him about factory tint and whatnot, he said on 4 door cars, the back windows can be as dark as you want. but the front windows cannot be tinted or must be at least 70%

He said on 2 doors, none of the windows besides the very back window can be tinted.

All in all, very nice cop, had upper dublin tagging on his car. good guy.

any of you guys been pulled over yet for tint? I didnt think mine was that dark, damn. ive seen way darker then mine, i can only imagine...

The tint laws are VERY vague in Pa. Some interpret them much differently from others, but the general consensus is that if you get tint darker than 30%, you are at risk of getting multiple tint tickets.

Other things make the tint look darker is being night or having a darker interior!

yea the one thing he mentioned was that he thought my tint was even darker because of my interior which is all black.

I got pulled over a few times in my old car. I got warnings but never tickets. My interior was black too.

70% is pretty much what factory tint is... which is nothing haha.

delaware is that you can have anything on the back windows...( 4 dr cars - back doors and back window; 2 dr - the little windows and back window)

i'm not sure how it is in pa but i would recommend getting a tint waiver if you can. go to the doctor, get them to sign it saying that the sun gives you headaches or you get sunburnt easy. then take it to the dmv... and your tint will be legal. :)

Upper Dublin blows monkey pee pee. Had to take a leak real bad, pissed on the side of this building, round the side , could barely see me, right in front of my car, headlights off, Saturday night like 11pm in a small plaza with basically all the businesses closed, super stealth and shizz.

3 Cops total roll up,omg what are you doing, omg what are you thinking, asked me if I was drinking 10 million times, generally just being hardass's. I was going to bitch but then walking towards the curb they made me sit on for 20 minutes, the main toolbox goes "Oh nice tint" gave me a breath-a-lyzer which ended being a shocking 0.0 . The fatter, bolder one, tried super hard to hit on the girl I was with and even offered to drive her home.

Ticket for disorderly conduct, fine itself was 25 bucks + all the gay court fees= 150 to take a leak. Had this been Philly it would have been a warning. Meh atleast I didnt get banged for tints. Regardless Upper Dublin FTL.

Philly has worse things to worry about than tint violations.

On a similar note, I have had good and bad experiences with window tint and police. This is up in MA though, where they are stiff about things. But I can't complain, as I get away with a fair amount of shenanigans.

Good to see their is a forgiving officer out there.

Do what I do (if you can) open your sunroof when you see a cop and let light pass through making the tint look lighter.

happened to me one time, when i was at temple djing a party. was pissing in an alley, 3 bike cops roll up and start freaking out on me, thank god all i got was a warning. i think part of the reason were the gun shots in the background, i think that was there priority, not me pissing. haha

how easy do you think it is to get a doctor to do that?

My ex got it for her tC, and she said it was not all that hard to do, since it is pretty hard to prove/disprove that it does that.

depends on how close you are with the doctor.

The tint law IMO has many factors:

1) The area you live in. If there is a lot of trouble in your area. Weapons in cars, drugs, whatever...

2) How bored the officer is. I mean no disrespect at all. If I was a police officer and was bored, I would ticket for things like tint all the time probably. What kind of mood they are in and how you talk to them also goes with this.

3) How comfortable an officer is. This is the biggest one. I'm sure that everyone agrees. You wouldnt want to walk up on a dark tinted car all the time wondering what will happen or what is hiding behind the dark window...If it makes them uncomfortable I would think they would give you a ticket.

I dunno. The law seems very shakey to me. While I understand where they are coming from to an extent, I think it is there just to be there and as a fail safe for when something does happen. I got my car tinted because with the window setup and my ride height, the sun and headlights blind me constantly and looks as well.

Yeah he was telling me it all depends on the cop. He said most of his officers in upper dublin dont enforce tinting laws. He said its a gray area. He claims its something they are told to look for, but they dont have to pull everyone over for it. Its all at the cops discretion.

Yeah, it was just gay, I basically have a pretty clean record, I'm always polite, courteous, yes sir, thank you sir. This was one of those you can't be serious. Fine if lets say I went to Upper Dublin Middle School in broad daylight, and R Kelly'd all over little Timmy's face prepubescent face, fine, **** me. But c'mooon late at night, no one around, let me get my tinkle on.

I had to pee so bad that, after I was done, I was doing my little dance as I was buckling my belt, all happy and stuff and then he runs all Forrest Gump up to me and is like "omgeezy what are you doing", I was going to say "Just dancin'" but my evidence was still trinkling down the wall :(
Worst thing about it was that when I went to pay the ticket, he was the cumbubble that was ushering people into the court room. Needless to say our eyes met. Upper Dublin Fail and I now have the least fun disorderly conduct on my record.

As far as tint goes, I have 15% all around and always put my front windows down if I am about to be pulled over or am passing by the Po-po-5-0

Well, at least you know the easy way instead of the hard way on what you can get away with :)

What was the cops name? I know a couple, and have grown up with a couple. Upper Dublin has some of the nicest cops in the area, as does Horsham.

I usually get one tint ticket a week in NJ. Never been stopped in PA for it though.
