I bought this vehicle in early 2004 from an employee of Secret Services in Florida (home of the highest horsepower stock bottom-end 240sx in the US). The orignal engine swap, auto to manual coversion, all wiring, and 5-lug conversion was performed by them. The SR20DET in the car when I bought it was an S13 Blacktop, so all wiring/sensors are S13 blacktop. I ran a 13.9 @ 106.4 mph 1/4 mile at **8 psi**, open differential, and very little experience launching RWD. This was done with the GTIR turbo.
The Blacktop S13 SR20DET was nuked by a local speedshop so I swapped another SR20DET in it myself. The engine in the car now is a Redtop S13 SR20DET from an automatic Silvia. It was imported by World Motorsports (world-motorsports.com). The Redtop was in immaculate shape and very low miles. Before installing it I pulled the head and added a Cometic 1.1mm headgasket and Greddy Rocker arm stoppers. The engine bay was painted flat black and wiring was cleaned up even further than originally.
The entire vehicle was treated by a Dent Wizard paintless dent repair tech then was taken to a local bodyshop and had all remaining dents/dings/chips repaired. The bodykit was professionally fitted and vehicle was sprayed with satin black urethane primer. Even after 3 years it still looks very good and is one of the best flat black jobs I have seen. I get compliments on it all the time. To paint the car, very little body work and prep work would be required.
The wheels, valve cover, pullies, and strut tower bar ends were professionally refinished in a one-off custom Gold/Bronze tinted by me. Hot and cold intercooler pipes were professionally refinished in BMW Arctic Silver for a flawless appearance. Custom paint work done by Vision Porsche/Audi Bodyshop.
Currently the car needs the SAFC tuned for max performance or to safely boost higher. I have not boosted over 10psi on the current engine. The turbo is good for 18psi which will be like night and day compared to 10psi. The engine has approx 4000 miles on it since rebuild. It has only been driven around town and a few trips to work and back. It has not been to the track since replacing the engine. Recently I did a second oil change on it using an OEM filter and Mobile 1 10w30 Synthetic.
THIS CAR WAS NEVER DRIFTED, EVER. While this car has the power and suspension to drift, I have never put the car through the abuse. This car has ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT, since day 1. The car idles great and pulls hard even at such low boost. With current mods and proper tune this car could bury the previous time of 13.9 @ 106mph. This beautiful car sits in my garage and I never have time to drive it so it is time to let it go. Putting 5 miles on it every weekend from buzzing around the block is sad considering what this car is capable of.
WHERE ATTENTION MAY BE NEEDED:
*The SAFC needs to be tuned max performance or before adjusting boost
*Oil pump front cover is leaking a very small amount of oil
*Transmission whines a bit while in gear (pilot bearing needs to be replaced eventually)
*Right door needs adjustment as it slightly rubs sideskirt when closing
*Bulb is out on Greddy Water temp gauge
