i bought a nikon d40 about a month ago, changing from my dads n90, and he has this tamron 28mm - 300mm lens (not sure if it's the brand? only name i could find) and i tried it on my d40 and it fit so i took some shots with it. i had to manually focus tho since it's not a digital lens. i was told they just wouldnt communicate, (the camera and the lens) with the auto foucs.
Im not sure if ne of this is true so it's why i am asking, i just dont want to be messing up my camera in any way. so some help on this please, thanks.
